@cherryblossomlove:  It would be a red flag to me if you can’t communicate with a vendor.  Why do you need to go with them?

I agree it is a huge red flag that you can’t get a hold of them. How long have you been emailing and when? Uusally, they are quite busy Fridays-Sundays with other events so if you emailed around that time, that may be why they haven’t responded yet. I would try calling though since emails haven’t gotten anywhere as a “Just an FYI. I emailed recently and just wanted to confirm it was received and that it didn’t get lost in the Web.” If they remain non-responsive, I would just go with another caterer and save yourself the hassle/worry because the caterer is a huge part of the event. Ours is responsible for everything from setup to chairs to food to linens and the peace of mind of a good caterer may be worth the extra $800-1000. Plus, ours was willing to discount a lot of things down when we asked. I would also consider talking to your venue if indeed their main caterer is slacking because they may not know that and may drop them as the main catering contact.

I am just about 6months out and I still have no caterer either.  I have my favorite, went to a tasting and now am waiting on a quote from a few others.
