We are having an evening ceremony at 5:00 then cocktails from 6:00 to 7:00 then dinner will finish around 8:30 followed by cake and speeches till 9:00. The event must wrap up at 11:30 because of the venue.
We don’t have a DJ. We are playing our own music with Itunes. There really isn’t room for a dance floor.
My Queston is do we need the MC to address this or will people get that there really is no formal dance?
If you feel the MC should address this what should he say?

If there is no place to dance and you and your husband aren’t dancing (aka first dance) than no one will expect to dance and I don’t think the MC would have to announce it!

Wait, I’m confused. Are you just playing dance music between 9-11:30 on your iPod, or does the reception end after the speeches?
I probably wouldn’t worry about it either way. If the reception ends after the speeches, just have a quick speech that says “Thank you for coming and we hope you enjoyed yourselves” and then have the bridal party exit. If there is music to dance to, well that counts as a formal dance in my opinion. You don’t need a DJ to make it formal.

Ah, well in that case maybe have the MC say something like “The happy couple is thrilled you all came out to see them. Please, enjoy some more refreshment and mingle.” If people don’t see you dancing I’m sure they won’t be confused.
