I know it's a trend right now, but would your guests have fun with a photobooth?
You could also create more of a dinner party atmosphere than a traditional wedding if you have it at a nice restaurant. Not having alcohol gives you more room in the budget for food! You could put icebreaker questions on the placecards.
Have an alternative activity (maybe if you have a wedding outside, have bocce ball, cornhole, croquet, etc)
We're not having dancing or alcohol either! At first I was worried that our guests would be bored too (we're both 22, so most of our friends are expecting more of a "party"). BUT we've shifted our reception to be more of a nice, cozy luncheon than a typical "wedding reception" atmosphere, so I think by just changing the feel of the event we'll prevent people from getting too bored. We also won't have it last too long (2 hours, maybe 3?) so irritated guests can leave and get their drinky on before the day slips away from them (ha ha). Our philosophy is that most everyone can go to a nice restaurant sometime and have a lovely, dance-free, alcohol-free time without dying of boredom, so they can certainly do the same thing for their good friends (us) on our special day. Otherwise, they wouldn't be close enough to us to be invited :)
We're not having dancing. We are having a pretty small wedding of 35-40 people. We are looking at a a relaxing dinner with just talking and mingling with our guests.
FI and I aren't dancers, so we really don't care about the dancing aspect of the wedding.
We're planning to have something for those who want to dance, but we're also looking to have a gaming room for video games. We'll probably get some friends to bring their gaming systems (we'll bring ours too, of course), and some games.
FI's cousin's husband is very excited for our tentative gaming room, almost as much as we are.

My fiance and I feel very differently about dancing. He doesn't think it's a good idea for religious reasons, however I don't want a reception where everyone leaves by 7:30 and I look back and regret it.
Any ideas on how we can still have fun without dancing (and without alcohol)?
