@august9brooke:  Have you exhausted all of the stores in your area and tried on every possible silouette?

Have you thought about getting one made?

I was just in this situation but i found my dress on sunday at a Brides Against Breast Cancer event in my area. It’s a great cause and they have slightly worn designer dresses for very cheap. I have seen girls walk away with fabulous dresses for $100, mine was 50% off and was only $900. They also have lawaway plans as well and your money goes to a great cause. Just keep looking and i’m sure you’ll fall in love with a dress. Good luck!

@august9brooke:  I just bought my dress yesterday, so I was definitely in the same boat. The boutique I went to said that my dress was going to ship in July leaving only one month for fitting, so if you aren’t sure whether or not you want to buy off the rack, I would check boutiques ASAP in case you do want to get one shipped 🙂

I’m going shopping the 3rd week of March and will decide on a style to have custom made.   It’s getting too close to order something from a shop and I have champagne taste on a beer budget!

@LibrarianBride, I just got mine 2 days ago and I will advise you try looking a lot sooner. As it is I am cutting it very close to the actual day because my dress is not arriving until end of June and I need about a month for dress alterations so make that end of July for a destination wedding.

@MrsAde:  Really? Even though I’m planning on custom?  I need to go try some on to figure out the style I want, but I want my sister to come with me.  She can’t visit until mid-March.  I’m hoping with something custom I wouldn’t need time for alterations.

@LibrarianBride:  In that case, I really hope you find something good. I was just so stunned by the amount of time needed to get the dress. Some custom ones might be faster to get and others may be slower. I started to think custom and then the prices scared me off. I know either way, you’ll get a gorgeous dress you’re happy with.
