We bought last year, but just wanted you to know I cracked up over your Mean Girls references.
Also - what is the market like where you are? Our market is wayyyyy down, which is why we could afford before we thought we'd be able to.
@MsNarwhal: Haha, that totally reminds me of this gem I found on Pinterest:

I'm sorry you feel so pressured. FI and I went through the same thing not too long ago, so I know how it is, but it will get better!
Haha love the pics!
Our market is down too...the area were looking at is pretty specific/expensive and our budget is low for a house/condo. So were hoping to get a fixer upper that we can afford. I just see various condos selling..not quickly mind you, and I get sad that its one less option for us to look at.
We bought this past summer but I hear you (and also think the pictures are funny). I was house CRAZY for months! All we ever did was look up houses, talk about houses, make pros and cons lists about houses.....creepily drive by houses.....haha. Just make sure you know what you want and get as informed as you can and keep on saving!
Hang in there chicky! You never know what home might have just come on the market when you go to look! Your dream house may not be ready for you just yet =)
While you're saving, it's a good idea to work out what your expected repayments, taxes, utilities and other bills will cost and AT LEAST save that so you know what you're up for. It'll get you into a good routine and won't be such a shock when you buy. If you can't stick to the plan, and have weeks where you dip in, it's a safe bet to keep on saving!
Goodluck, patience isn't my strong point either!
Hang in there and keep on saving! I actually got DP help from my parents bc otherwise it would have been about 10 years before I could have saved teh cash required to buy in NYC. But on top of that I had to save a LOT of money for the closing costs, moving expenses, etc. that we actually paid twice since the first place fell through.
LOL @ Mean Girls references.
I feel your pain. Housing costs are so expensive here (MA) that FI and I had to make the decision to live apart with our parents instead of rent an apartment just to be able to save for the wedding and house.
I frequently have to remind myself that it's going to be so worth it to have our own home. Finally we've saved up enough and are ready to work with a realtor to start looking.

Anyone else feeling the home buying pressure? I WANT A HOUSE!!! My FI and I each live with our respective parents at the moment but stay with eachother every night. Yea, it sucks for now, but were trying to save for a down payment (ie: Im trying to save while he has a ton of expenses I want him to pay down before were married). Im just getting frustrated looking at houses that I cant buy now because our downpayment isnt large enough yet and I have this irrational fear that by the time were looking/ready to buy (in the next couple months) that all the houses will be gone! I have this scenario in my head that well walk into a realtors office and theyll say, YOURE BUDGET?! LOLOLOL and say:
"2 houses for you, you go Glen Coco!! and no house for Gretchen Weiners! Bye!" (Mean Girls plays in my head at the same time).
Blah! Anyone else feeling the pressure to become a buyer ASAP!?
