For a few months now, my FI’s brother and his wife have been looking for suits for their son for the wedding. They were waiting though to buy it within a week or two just to make sure they got the right size. The other day I asked my FI if they had gotten the suit yet. His response?
“Oh, they’re not getting one. My brother said we told him he could wear that dinosaur costume he got on sale so he’s doing that.”
Um, what? I mean don’t get me wrong, he’s adorable in that dinosaur costume. But everyone is going to be in cocktail attire and this is at least a semi-formal event. Not to mention this thing has 1-2 inches of padding because it’s a Halloween costume and it’s going to be about 70 degrees. There is no way I ever said he could wear that though. My thought is that I pointed out a suit and he thought I meant the dinosaur costume or I said he could wear it that weekend and he took it as the wedding. But honestly, I don’t think either happened. I really just don’t think they cared to buy a suit. My FI ended up getting him a suit for only a few dollars the other day but it’s going to be huge on him because it was the only one he could find for the money we have to spend right now. We didn’t expect to have to do this because his brother and his wife as well as his mom all told us they were taking care of it. This is the other reason that I don’t believe they actually thought we said that, because multiple times one of the three of them would mention about how they had been looking again but wanted to see what came out closer since it’d be around time to buy Easter outfits.
That was by far the biggest surprise that has happened so far that I’m glad isn’t going to be revealed to me on the wedding day.

Oh, just throw on a leopard print dress and put a bone in your hair and make it a Flintstones wedding!!
Utterly. Ridiculous. There is no way they could possibly have thought that you wanted their son to walk down the aisle at your wedding in a dinosaur costume. Ridiculous!

Bahaha that is INSANE. People are so ridiculous!

A dinosaur suit!?
Craziness….. I can’t even imagine thinking it would be a good idea to let a kid wear a dinosaur suit to a formal wedding!

That’s ridiculous. If my sister did that to me and put my nephew in his Wolverine costume, I’d seriously tell him he’s not walking down the aisle.
But I’m a snappier bride(;

I’m giving your FBIL the benefit of the doubt, and think he was just yanking your chain 😉

o_O what were they thinking? That doesn’t make ANY sense. It’s not even practical.

The way the gazebo is set up, it’s actually just me and my brother technically walking down the aisle. But with only 24 people there, it’s going to be pretty obvious that he’s there wearing a dinosaur costume.
And I wish it was a joke but his mom (who doesn’t know about this) called us to say he doesn’t have anything to wear yet and asked if we could look. So they honestly didn’t get him anything and his brother said he’s dead serious and swears he thought we said that was fine.

I’m sorry, it’s obviously a stressing point for you, but if my cousin decided to wear a dinosaur costume for my wedding I’d think it was hilarious. I hope it all works out for you though 🙂
