We’re using outer envelopes only, so single guests’ invites are addressed to only them. However, we want them to know they can bring a guest if they would like. If I indicate “we have reserved 2 seats in your honor” on the RSVP, will they get the drift that they are allowed to bring a guest?

Yes. I would think they would get the point.

That’s what I’m doing! I really hope that they understand that if there are two seats that means they and one other person can come!

I put it on the outer envelope, and also did the “Two seats have been reserved in your honor” thing on the RSVP card. I figure why beat around the bush? The outer envelope goes straight to the point!

I didn’t have inner envelopes and on my reply card included this wording:
__ of 2 guests attending
Everybody is understanding it just fine.
