I only put first names… I would think that by now everyone attending your wedding already knows you are engaged 🙂

That’s what we did! Ours simply said:

    “A and B

    are getting married!

    City, State”

The only reason I could think of that this would be a problem is if you don’t know everyone on your invite list – like parents’ friends or coworkers.

I think you either need your last names or a picture.  Obviously your friends and family know you’re engaged.  But what about your parents’ friends?  Or frankly, if you both have common names, plenty of people could be confused about the fact that “John and Amy are tying the knot.”  I’d put something identifying on there, just to be safe and avoid awkwardness.
