I’m so over the moon! Let me just jump into the story:
We are living in Asia and the Lunar New Year just happened to coincide with Valentine’s Day so we booked ourselves a holiday in Saipan (an island near Guam) as we were desperate to go somewhere warm after the long winter!
I’d had one ring hint back on New Years’ Eve, but as we are already living together I couldn’t think when he could have bought a ring and was feeling a little disappointed, but determined to enjoy our holiday and not thing about it too much (if that’s even possible!!!)
On Valentine’s Day we booked a sunset beachside barbeque, and although it was sadly cloudy, it was a pretty romantic event. As my FI disappeared to the loo I naughtily checked his bag but was gutted to find no ring box 🙁
I decided to stay strong, and later as we were waiting for dessert our conversation turned to how happy FI was that his family love me and he said really, really lovely sweet things and I was feeling pretty emotional as the waitress came and served my FI with dessert and served me… a ring box on a plate!!!
I just burst into tears, and then my FI even started crying as he told me how happy I’ve made him the past 2+ years and how he wanted to spend his life with me, and asked me to marry him!! I shouted ‘of course!’ and then I moved my promise ring to my right hand and he put on the ring. We hugged and kissed and it was just absolutely perfect!
There was applause from the other guests and restaurant staff and they came up to us to congratulate us as they left 🙂
I don’t know why, since I’d been thinking about the proposal for a few months before, but in the moment I was absolutely surprised and stunned!! It was perfect!! 😀 The sly man had been absolutely cool the whole holiday and I would never have guessed he’d had the ring for 3 whole months!!
Here are some pics! It was a very expensive ring- 18K white gold with a 0.5 carat colourless diamond- so I really hope I don’t lose it!
I do hope I can find a wedding band to fit the shape though.. any thoughts?
