It took me about 6 or 8 weeks? That first month, MAN, I was totally crazy! I knew I was irrational but I just couldn’t help myself. I’m now 8 months out and feel totally normal.

How about I cried at crossfit??? Like, tears streaming. So embarassing.

I will say that my period totally sucks now. I spot for like 3 days before, it’s super heavy for 2 days and then drags around for another FIVE DAYS with a couple bonus spotting days after. Jesus.

@relaxedaboutit It took me about 8 weeks to feel normal too!!  I was the same way – grumpy, felt fat constantly no matter how i ate or how much i worked out, felt ready to cry at the least little thing my DH would say or do!! Finally feeling back to normal now, I quit BC around Thanksgiving approximately??

@MrsTillerResq:  Uhmmmm. . . I took BCP for 2 months this summer, so this may not apply to your situation. . . it made me feel really gross, which was why I stopped so soon. My moods and such were back on track in 3-4 weeks, but it really messed up my digestive system, which is just getting back to somewhere near normal after 3.5 months. . . and that’s with acupuncture/Traditional Chinese Medicine herbal help, for the last month or so.

I highly recommend acupuncture and Chinese medicine for balancing hormones and moods and fertility! I’ve used it before this and it works for me.

Also, read up on the hormone-balancing herbs Vitex agnus-castus (Chasteberry) and Maca root. Chasteberry especially is very commonly used to help balance hormones after getting off BCP.

Good luck, and hope you feel better soon!

@MrsTillerResq:  Not sure if your going off to TTC or what, but I highly recommend downloading an app for your phone to track your period. I was so used to getting it first thing on Thurs morning of my placebo week. Now I have to pay attention or I get surprised by it!

@mamadingdong:  My periods are still like that after 3 YEARS off bcp (after about 8 years on it). The heaviest flow is limited to a day or two but it is much more intense than when I was on the bcp.

My cycle is also pretty random after going off the bcp. It will go from 28 days to 31 days to 34 days to anything in between. I know these are not abnormally long or short cycles but I’m not so sure it’s normal to have a different length every time. Ugh.

@kestane:  that varying cycle must be hard! mine is short (i’m told your cycle gets shorter as you get older. or maybe my np was trying to scare me???) with an average of 26 days. feel like i always have something going on!
