Just saw that oprah will end her show in sept 2011. I know that is a long way off, but it is still sad! I am not sure how I feel about a whole Oprah channel though, which I guess is what she is doing. Anyone else feel a little sad by her news?

Ehhh, not really. She is a great woman, but gets on my nerves.  All the fame goes to her head, I think.

Ugh why does it not surprise me that she will have a whole channel dedicated to herself? Honestly, Oprah pisses me off. This may seem like a trivial thing to a lot of people but it drives me bonkers that every Oprah's Book Club book they slap that Big "O" on the cover, obscuring the cover art. It's like HI OPRAH, you're not the first person in the world to read and discover the greatness of Garcia-Marquez's One Hundred Years of Solitude. Don't throw your signature on it. I spent an extra 20 bucks on the hardcover edition so I could appreciate the cover art of the book and not see her stupid "O" every time I picked it up.

I haven't watched her show in a long time (no tv) but I do enjoy it when I see snippets.  I know the book club gets on a lot of people's nerves but I like it.  I don't keep up with it but I have read a few just because she recommended them and they were all quite good.

@Kittyachi: While that big "O" might be annoying, it also has its benefits.

Everytime the "O" is slapped on a cover, millions of devoted Oprah fans go out and buy the book, giving the author a boost in status and sales :)

"O"h thank goodness!  The woman drives me nuts.  And she's out of touch with reality.

Aww, I'm kinda sad about this but I'm happy for her.

I think she is an amazing role model and that she has overcome a lot to get where she is.  She had a horrible childhood but came through it to have an amazing career.  She also gives a LOT to charity but she's not all in-your-face about it.

Not... really. I don't think she's as great as people think she is. I like reading her magazine because sometimes it's amusing, but it's not really enough substance to merit taking seriously. And lets face it- she introduced the world to Dr. Phil. No thank you! She's amazing in the fact that her childhood was HORRIBLE, but past that, I think she's totally out of touch.

Good point about Dr. Phil. and Dr. Oz. I can't stand him. But honestly I love her show. I dont read her mag, or really any of her book group selections, but I just like to veg out to her show.

I can quasi get behind Dr. Oz only because he's made alot more people pay attention to their health and has given them some good books about it for people who otherwise wouldn't care. I've never actually seen him on TV, though, so I don't know if he's annoying or not.

I've never read her magazine and to be honest I never really watch her show b/c it's on so early.  I might DVR it if I an actor I like will be on.

I think Oprah has accomplished so much and is an amazing role model. As a matter of fact, "O" magazine is a great read with interesting articles besides the standard "how to please your man in bed" fare often seen in Redbook or Cosmo. I try to pick it up whenever I can.

I can't say I care for her talkshow however. I also take whatever Dr. Phil and Dr. Oz say with a grain of salt - but generally I am annoyed by the both of them.

I'm going to have to disagree with you on the magazine, Valhalla- it reads just like any other self-help book you find at *any generic major bookstore*, just a condensed version. I do like the manners columns, though, I will give her editors credit for that!

Unlike other posters, I heart Oprah!  My DVR is full of the shows I need to catch up on!  But I think she does amazing things are people.  I'm sad her show will be ending, but I guess it has to end sometime!
