My go to breakfast EVERY morning at work has been an whole wheat English muffin with tofu cream cheese and tomato. I found out today that my office cafeteria will no longer be allowed to serve tofu cream cheese because it is too high in trans-fats for NYC standards.
I know there’s a no trans fat version, but I guess they can’t buy that in bulk, so they are just scrapping it all together.
Guess I’ll have to find another high protein, tasty alternative. I had the low fat cream cheese this morning, but it just tastes so heavy.

What an….interesting breakfast 🙂 Says the girl who had hummus, crackers, and yogurt.
Could you put hummus on your bagel? Maybe go half hummus, half cream cheese so it’s not so heavy?

@ejs4y8: No hummus either. I might just go back to having a little peanut butter on my english muffin. But the tofu cream cheese was so low cal as well as tasted really good.
I could bring my own in, but our fridge breaks about once a week, so I’m not sure how long it’d stay good here!

They have little mini tupperwares that are perfect for “single servings” or dressings. You could buy a container of the cream cheese and keep it at home and then just dole out as much as you need for a day into the Tupperware.
I will have to check out this tofu cream cheese! I like cream cheese well enough, but it is so thick and heavy sometimes, and the fat free has a weird waxy texture (IMO).

Whipped Cream Cheese is lighter but still tastes good, not like the light cream cheese!

@gabrielleelise1981: The tofu one has a nice texture. And it comes in flavors too. I have the garlic and herb at home… very good on crackers.
I’ll have to look into the mini Tupperware.

@KatNYC2011: Where oh where do you get tofu cream cheese?! I’m allergic to casein (mouth blisters, throat swells and itches all that good stuff) and would absolutely LOVE to find some cream cheese that won’t require an Epi Pen!

@TealChocolate: The brand is tofutti. I’ve found it in a lot of grocery stores.Their website has a store locator:
