I'm sorry to hear that.
I'm pretty sure there is a gorgeous city hall in CA, but I can't remember where. It sounds like you'd like to have an outdoor ceremony though. Here is a link to the Balboa park events. http://www.balboapark.org/info/events.php Do you mean eloping just the two of you or eloping with a very tiny ceremony?
Well, I wish you luck from Buffalo, NY. We decided to "elope" (family is coming with us) after we came to the conclusion that there is no way we'll be able to save all that money by next year. Plus the fact that if we did, we still need to buy a house. I just want to be married!!! So, we're going the wacky route and going to Vegas. Sorry I don't have suggestions, I just wanted to throw in some support for you. Good luck!
Thank you ladies... I REALLY appreciate your support.
We are thinking about just having our parents and siblings come. Sure it won't be the wedding that I have dreamt about, but at least I will be able to marry my prince charming. That is the most important part.
@Natakie16 - We talked about going to Vegas, but my soon-to-be hubby really wanted to get married in San Diego so that it is easier for our siblings and parents to join us. They have some GREAT places to get married in Vegas. :) Good luck with your elopment. I really appreciate your support! :)
@dorsay - I think the city hall that you are thinking of is in San Fran. It is GORGEOUS. I tried to convince my hubby to go there, but alas San Diego it is. Thank you so much for the link. I will check it out. And, thank you for your support! :)
If I were you, I'd have a ceremony with your immediate family at Cuvier Park and then have a mini reception with them at the Scripps Inn http://www.scrippsinn.com/. It's gorgeoussss. We are thinking about doing the same thing (immediately family only) and honestly, I wouldn't change it for the world...it is actually my parents that are trying to push us for a larger wedding.
HisMRS! I'm about to check your blog straightaway for I hope more details! (i hope) I"m sorry to hear about this turn of events...I know you've been doing lots of planning and this has to be a big dissapointment. I would be devastated.
You can still have a great, cheap party to celebrate, even if you have to majorly downsize. There's lot of options; I hope you guys find the perfect place.
Balboa park would be great...what about an intimate beach ceremony?
Have you thought about Old Point Loma Lighthouse? That would be GORGEOUS!
I also like Balboa Park, very nice and would be good for a small ceremony.
La Jolla has some nice outdoor sites as well. You could also consider something in LA, it's not too far away...
This is why I love Weddingbee. There are so many great ideas and so many people that always support you.
HoffmanE: The CuvierPark and Scripps Inn idea is a great one... I will have to look into it. Thank you!!
LatteLove: I just updated. :) Thank you for your support! We are definitely leaning towards an intimate beach ceremony. If we keep it under 25 people, we don't even need a permit!
MightySapphire: I have lived in San Diego my whole life and I have never seen the Point Loma Lighthouse. I will definitely have to check it out!!! Thanks!
So sorry to hear about that.. That has to be tough.
But you CAN have a gorgeous wedding! I wished I knew enough about CA to give you a few options..
There is one place I heard of that has the most beautiful courthouse area to marry. Very very ornate..a bee here told me about it and she's from TN?
And remember..there are also awesome scheduled elopements you can do in the Carribbean and merge the wedding and honeymoon together! Where everything comes part of the package for a great price!
Hi,
My FI and I love San Diego. What about Coronado Island? Also, I think that San Diego has a few great spots that are also city parks, correct? I also remember something about a great outdoor wedding spot right at one of the city halls - maybe a deck or something. I will have to think about it, but I know that I looked at a ton of spots there before deciding on Santa Barbara. Good luck!
I just wanted to give you all a quick update. My FI and I had "the talk" with my parents and...
WE STILL GET TO HAVE A WEDDING!!!!
I was SO nervous for the money talk, but they will be giving us the money they promised. How they come up with it is another story, but my FI and I could not be more excited. :) Now, it is time to get back into the wedding planning groove!! :)
Thanks for all of your support! I REALLY REALLY appreciate everyone's comments. Prayers do get answered!!!
Ohhh!!!! Hurrayy!!!! So happy to hear the good news :) Yupppie!
I am SOO glad to hear that everything will work out as you'd hoped =)

So, my parents have basically bailed on the money they were supposed to give my FI and I for our wedding (even though they paid for all of my other sisters (4) weddings). They love us together and absolutely support our marriage, but they decided to buy a motorhome instead of follow through with our deal.
So, it looks like we will be eloping. We are in San Diego and are desperately looking for great eloping places. Any ideas out there? We have talked about Balboa Park our La Jolla Cove, but we are not sure what the permit rules are. Does anyone have any insight?
P.S. I will most likely be selling all of the stuff I bought for our wedding. We have TONS of stuff. So, keep an eye out. My loss is your gain! :)
