There are definitely snarky posts sometimes, but usually get moderated fairly quickly. In general this is a very warm community 🙂

Well, this will end quickly.

Just remember that this is the Internet, and everyone has an opinion, and not everyone will agree…

If you are offended by something, flag the post.

Pretty simple, no?

Given that you have chosen to use a different username, none of us can comment on the validity of your complaints.

I don’t have the same experience or perception here on WeddingBee.

I hope you feel better for venting.

I hope you feel better!  I’ve never had this experience.  For the most part, I find Bees to be very supportive and helpful.  It’s the internet, people will be more vocal because of the anonymity sometimes!

There’s 200,000+ registered users of this website. If you think it’s going to be sunshine and rainbows – or even ‘fair’ – you’re going to be disappointed.

My advice is to not invest so much energy and effort into a website full of strangers you don’t know.

Also, how can you  say ‘no offense’ and then offend everyone on the Bee?  That’s silly.

@Blanche:  I really love this can of warmed-up beans.  No hobo!

I think it’s a pretty good and safe website. When snarkiness or attacks occur, it usually gets taken care of pretty quickly. In the written word there is no “tone of voice” so you can’t tell if I am joking or not. I try to remember to put a happy face afterwards or LOL or Ha Ha so people know it’s a fun, joking post, not snarkiness.

The Bee is not as bad as other sites but it seems most of the offensiveness comes from when people get to talking about etiquette. Different people come from different parts of the world, different cultures and different social circles. Therefore, leading to some of the different opinions said on the Bee. What some may think aren’t offensive, others may beg to differ.

@Noone_knows:  Wait…you’re getting messages from the admin telling you that you are breaking TOS? That suggests that you’re probably, well, violating the TOS. Breathe, step back, cool down, then respond to people’s posts on the internet. What they think of you, and what you think of them, doesn’t really matter in the end, so if something is getting heated just ignore it.  BTW, apparently making a secondary account to talk about something like this is called “sock puppeting” and it is also a violation of the TOS (came up about a week ago in another post, so you may want to be careful).

The mods aren’t perfect, they are human.

I also see people who judge other’s choices when it’s not wanted.  If I buy a car and post a topic about how I love it and someone points out all the negatives and how I shouldn’t have bought that car, it’s not cool.  It would be different if I asked for advice about a car I was considering buying.  I have seen posts like this where that was the case.  Whether or not that’s true in your case, I don’t know.

For the most part, the bees are pretty supportive of each other, and hopefully you’ll see that in future posts!
