I need your help - I fell in love with this dress online and when I went to try it on, none of my bridesmaids or my mom like it. I thought it was really pretty, and unique (which is what I wanted), but maybe I'm the only one. When people see me on my wedding day, I want people to love the dress - if this is the reaction I'm getting maybe I'm fooling myself. What do you guys think?  Please, please be honest, I really need your opinions!!

Try again with the pic or a link to the dress!

Also, remember that it's your opinion that matters most!

I like that dress. It looks really great on you. I think if you do it, you should definitely do an updo.

I think the symmetry looks a little off with the embelishment on the right shoulder and the gathering of fabric on your left thigh.

I think I'd like it a lot more without the shoulder strap.

But I have to agree with other posters that was matters most is what you think!  How you feel in the dress is most important.

For me it has too much going on, with the ruffles and the one strap and the pick ups. Everyones opinion doesnt really matter though, If you love it thats all that matters.

I always thought I would go for the ballgown look, but I saw this on Maggie Sottero's website and thought it was beautiful. I guess I just thought my BM and mom would think it was WOW too.  I'm such a people pleaser - I have a hard time thinking for myself I guess!  I just have fears of me getting this dress and then everyone at the wedding whispering how much they don't like it (paranoid I know). But I also keep thinking of this dress too.  I'm so bad at decisions!!!

I like it. I think this dress makes your figure look outstanding!

If you told me you were wearing this and gave me complete control over your wedding day "look" (which of course you would never give to anyone), this is what I would think of first:

DRESS: Put a feathery flower or other larger embellishment where the right shoulder strap meets the dress to emphasize its asymmetry. Maybe in a bold color to match your bouquet, or maybe in white.

SHOES: Something with lift. A dress this dramatic needs heels. In a bright color!

HAIR: Give you a sleek updo, such as a French twist or an Audrey Hepburn bun.

Put a double headband in your hair without a veil, OR give you either a very short fascinator-type veil OR a very long, sheer veil. I think the mid-length veil cuts you off at the wrong point.

MAKEUP: Smoky eyes and pale lips for a short veil, lots of blush and 'rosy bride' look for a long veil.

Sometimes, the dress & 'look' people picture you in is not the 'look' YOU want to get married in. So don't sweat it -- the question is, does the gown flatter you, and is it the style you're going for? If the answer is yes, just say, "Aw, sorry it's not what you imagined. I can't wait to wear it!"

You will totally rock this dress.

Miss Sequoia- I need a stylist for sure!!  I will def. do an updo, though I haven't decided exactly which kind. Personally, I'm more comfortable with my hair up than done - you can put a billion bobby pins in it so it won't move all night!!  If I got this dress, I was thinking of doing a cathedral length veil, another thing I didn't think I would want until I tried it on...

I love the dress but I don't like the strap. I think it takes away from the construction of the dress, which is amazing.

Beautiful and so flattering.  I love it.  Did your friend/family simply picture you in something else (say a ballgown) and this is why they aren't embracing this one?  It may be more of an expectation problem rather than simply not liking the dress?

My mom thought it had too much going on - she said it took away from me (such a mom answer!!). Everyone else didn't say too much, just that it was "my decision", but when I did come out in a ballgown they all "Oohhed and Aawwed"

I'm also VERY self-consious about my body so I was afraid of how it would look being so snug around my hips, I don't want to look unflattering on that day of all days!

If I'm this indecisive about the dress I don't think I'll make it through the rest of the planning :D

I think it is very unique and very pretty! I think if it were me, I would take away the strap and make it into a strapless gown...let us know what you decide on it!

I like it, but I don't.....I like parts of it I think. I don't like the pick up. It's just...one big pick up? And the strap is out of place. I thinjk they put too much together and it doesn't flow....it looks good on you but i also kinda go "hm....eh...." and i'm holding back from gushing to you about it. BUT, I prefer sleeker silhouettes in general and if it was strapless with a more flowy skirt i'd be in love. But if YOU love it and feel great in it (it does fit you fab) that is numero uno in my book!

I love that dress. I fell in love with it the minute I seen in it a magazine and then it the website and I was further in love. If it my Vegas venue I would have bought it  months ago. It looks amazing on you. I would definitely go for it!!!

I kind of agree with your mom and a couple of the other bees. There is just too much going on in one dress for me. I dont think all of those things work together, im just not crazy about it. Its your decision though!

I think its a pretty glam dress. The only negative I have to say is that it gives off a mummy vibe in the bodice. I remember one of my friends making that comment once before - so each time I see a similar style... maybe it just has too much going on.

My first reaction was "Oh I like it!" I think I was expecting something awful lol.

However... looking a little more closely there's something off with the strap. I kind of feel like the strap is gets a little lost- its too bad it wasn't more dramatic. But thats only IF I dissect the dress, which your guests won't do.

Is there some sort of brooch or something on your skirt? Whatever it is it looks really pretty :)

You know what though, you have to love it. If you love it & have the confidence to rock it (regardless of what your friends & family think) then go for it! I've realized a lot of people have an idea in their head of what a bride should look like vs. the current bridal style/trends. On your weddding day they'll all gush how beautiful you look regardless of their first thoughts!

There is a brooch on the skirt, I think there may be another small one in the back of the dress, but I can't remember!

I really like it. I think the veil throws it off though - it's too much. Ditch the veil, put your hair in an updo and you're good to go. The dress does NOT have too much going on, but with the veil and your hair down, etc. it could come across that way. That's why I say let the dress shine on it's own and keep any accessories to a minimum. It looks GREAT on you!

Ladygoodman - do you think a cathedral veil would look better?  (I'll def. be wearing my hair up no matter what dress I pick :D)

It's a beautiful dress. I do think there's a lot going on though. I would try a different length veil. Either a short birdcage veil, or a full-length cathedral veil. This veil adds another visual line across your torso that is just superfluous. Also I would wear your hair up. So I guess my overall suggestion is to simplify the accessories so that they don't overpower that gorgeous dress!
