I have three flower girls and would like to make a ribbon pomander for each. I've found several descriptions of how to do it with pins and a styrofoam ball which is ok for the two older ones. I'm concerned for my neice who will be 2 that she'll pull out the pins.  Is it possible to sew a pomander or something similar??  I'd love any ideas of no pin pomanders or anything similar (she's so much smaller if she carries something different it won't matter!!

If you're using silk flowers, hot glue glue would work great I think.

Hmm... I can't think of any way to keep the ribbons on without pins! Could you glue the pins in? I guess pressing a glue-y pin through the ribbon would be gross/ineffective. :( Maybe hot glue the ribbons + flat head pins so they'll be harder to get out?

i've seen posts where the flowers are glued on with a glue gun and it looked great. if you're going to glue the flowers on, don't separate the petals from the flowerhead, just glue the whole piece to the ball - you may need more flowers but if you're using a smaller ball it won't matter too much. the other suggestion is maybe a small cute basket that she can hold and glue some flowers into/onto it.  now i probably the best time to snag a little basket since easter is coming up soon.

I'm not sure what style ribbons you're doing, but assuming you're doing loops (like the only ribbon pom I've seen), what if you did one long continuous ribbon for hers and just glued it down all over the place? You could intertwine a few. You would have to just make the ribbon go up and down and up and down and up and down (like this: wwwwwwwwww) and then kind of 'fluff' it.

    maybe?

i made a pomander and i used hot glue gun to put the flowers and for the ribbon i use a piece of strong wire (the kind you use to hang a mirror or a frame) to make a small loop. i glue the loop to the foam ball and pass the ribbon. it came out perfect and i didnt use pins

Unfortunately, I don't think it is possible to make a ribbon pom without using some sort of pin. Maybe you could make hers a flower one, since she is younger.
