*hugs* would you be okay with a proposal with *the* ring? Could you do a stand-in ring til he gets back on his feet job-wise? You'll get through this, I promise, it might just take a little longer. And it gives you practice for the "for poorer" and "for worse" on your vows!

I am sorry that you guys are going through this. I was laid off last December and didnt find a job until this August. All the while the BF was there for me and we got through it, you guys will make it through it. It will bring you closer.

Ohhh Curly that's awful!! so sorry to hear the bad news :( layoffs before the holidays are the worst!! but it seems like your BF is super marketable and bounced back quickly from the first tiime he was laid off, so hopefully his second unemployment period will be short!
Curly, I am sorry to hear that! ((Big Hugs)) to you! I totally know how you feel! My BF was laid off 2x this year too! However, he bounced back quicker than I could have imagine...one week. Just continue being the supportive GF and it will happen; this is the time that really counts in your relationship the hard times. I am wishing (and praying) that everything works out for you and your BF.

Sorry about that, sweetheart. I am going through a very similar situation. I just think to myself that after all of this is over, we will have already gone through one of the biggest hurdles that not even some long-married couples can overcome! Remember, as my girl Madonna says... "if it's bitter in the start, then it's sweeter in the end."

I'm sorry to hear that!! This economy does really suck right now, but hopefully things will turn around soon! I'm a firm believer that everything happens for a reason, so maybe there is something BIGGER and BETTER for him, which means BIGGER and BETTER for you...your BLING!
I'm sorry, i know it sucks. BF is under constant lay off watch cause his company isn't doing that great. Stay strong.
I'm so sorry to hear that, but you'll get through it. I've been jobless for 5 months, and it will be 1 more month until I start my new job (which is only a temp job for now). We've had to not plan our wedding because of it. But hopefully things will get better and we can move along with out plans for next year

I lost my position at work last month. It's demoralizing & really just a sick feeling.
Just be there for him! Hug him, love him & let him know he's the best thing in your life! Guys need reassurance... they often can get stuck in the "loser" mentality! Show him why he picked you :)
Recessionista, that is good advice. I will remember to do that. This will just help us grow closer together, although it's hard.

The Boy was laid-off earlier in the year. This after we already made the decision to move-in together and were looking for places. We found our very nice place and then he got laid off. Great.
Finally, he was able to get something else, however he was told last week that they might be laying people off. Well, when he came home last night, guess who had been laid off? :(
I'm not as bummed about it delaying a possible proposal, as just bummed that it happened now -- right before the holidays, right before a bunch of stuff. And, yea okay, it also means no ring anytime soon.
