Has anyone dealt with Heather Norwood aka Heather Jackson from Peachy Treats/Scoops Atlanta?

My wedding was yesterday and it was beautiful EXCEPT for my Candy Buffet Vendor who DID NOT SHOW UP!  I had a dessert reception and the candy bar was supposed to be the focal point.  Unfortunately, the vendor took my deposit, acted like she was going to show up and then didn't.  Did not answer her phone or her e-mails on the day before or the day of the wedding.

I want my deposit back asap.  I was wondering if anyone else worked with her.

She was the most irresponsible, horrible vendor I have ever worked with as well as being a liar.  When I went to check her website today she had taken it down.  I can't believe that someone would go this far to keep from paying back my deposit.  If she had told me that she couldn't do the wedding I would have hired someone else to do my buffet.

    Her actions were UNACCEPTABLE.

Do you have a signed contract showing how much you paid for your deposit and the terms of the contract?  I would assume that her not showing up would be a breach of any contract and you would be able to get your deposit back (although it won't necessarily be easy).

contact your bank and see what you can do to stop the check or charge back if its credit card. Contact the BBB and report the company also. You could also go to the police station and file a report

I would contact BBB as well. I hope you get your deposit back!

I've got to say that the fact that she has taken down her website, might be an indicator that you are not the only client she has done this to.

PPs suggestions were good- try and contact her again, check your contract, and then consider contacting a lawyer. Hopefully you will be able to get your deposit back.

I'm happy your wedding day went well, even if there is a small smudge on your day.

That must have been very disappointing.

I suggest you put it aside for a while and enjoy your new husband whether you are on your honeymoon or not.

You can tackle this isse later.

OMG this is so horrible!  I am sorry this happened to you.

Did you have a contract?  If so, contact the BBB and maybe an attny.  This is not only scary, but frightening.

Despite the candy buffet not going down, I am sure your wedding was gorgeous and that it was an amazing day!

Don't let that ruin the memories of your beautiful day.

    Hugs...Huge hugs to you (((((FutureMrs.M))))))

What she did is beyond unprofessional, and is imho potentially fraudulent behavior.

Tackle this issue when you return or get your mom and dad to handle things while you're away on your honeymoon.

    Enjoy that honeymoon!

You can attend to this issue when you return!  Again wishing you a wonderful new life together and sorry you two went thru that!

Don't bother with a lawyer, go to small claims court. It's a staight forward case and just as binding. Bring your contract, your returned check from the bank or the credit card charge statement  and two wittnesses or better yet a signed and notorized statement from your venue manager( some one who is a nutral bystander) saying that the candy vendor was a no show and you will win.

Thanks everyone!  I tried not to think of this for a couple of weeks while we were on our honeymoon and relaxing.  Now that it's back to the grind I will take her to small claims court and try to get my money back.  It's really disheartening when someone bails on you on your wedding day like that.  Really disappointing that she would lie like that.  BUT, other than that the day was great so I can't complain.

    Smiles!

@FutureMrs.M: YAY! I'm glad you didn't let this affect your honeymoon and had a great time with your new hubby. Congratulations btw!

Good luck with taking her to small claims, lets hope she is a no-show again and you win by default!! That would be so nice if you didn't even have to see her again to get your money back.

Ugh, there are a who slew of people in ATL committing fraud in the wedding industry. My cousin got married 2 years ago and her catering company "went bankrupt". Because they declared bankruptcy... they didn't have to pay a single dollar back. The crazy thing is, they have done this before MULTIPLE times. I hope the candy lady does not go this route. I'm so angry!

Oh wow..this is horrible!  I actually did some research after reading this and found out that this company changed their name to Sweet Scoop Candy Catering & Favors!!!!  Whatever happened?  Did you get your money back?

My company hired this candy buffet company for our Christmas party last year here in Atlanta and they do really good work and have received some great feedback!  I'm gonna go with them for my wedding.

Hope your issue finally got resolved.
