We didn't have any ushers to seat people - and I don't recall ushers at any of the last three weddings we attended. Definitely not neccesary.
Every Sunday people seat themselves with no help, they can handle it at your wedding, too.
I was at a wedding that had around 70 people and they didn't have ushers either. We're having them b/c our guest list is going to be huge, but for 50 people, you will be fine with out!
I have been to several wedding where there any ushers. And I don't think we were planning on it. -Excuse my naivety but what is the point of ushers? I really don't know!
Yay! Thank you guys! We decided to just have a greeter to give out the programs.

Have you, or has anyone you know of had their ceremony and had no ushers? We only have about 50 guests and we'd like to avoid making our friends do this job if it really isn't necessary. We don't want to do the "brides side, grooms side " thing.
We even considered a cute sign or door hanger on the entrance that says please seat yourself? Tacky?
So what do you think? Ushers - necessary or not?
