I am a "No-veil" bride as well!! I never liked the idea of having one and after finding my dress it confirmed that no veil would do the dress justice. I want to do my hair half up with some sort of flower type pin.
Here is my inspiration pic for my hair (without the veil of course
):
I was so set on not having a veil because to me they make me feel like i'm wearing a glorified bug net. I love the look of them on tons of other brides but on me that's just how I feel! But when we went dress shopping my mom and my uncle both ganged up on me and wouldn't leave the store without a veil! So can I please say how jealous I am that you ladies aren't wearing a veil!
@MsBlueberryBee: my fiance's family has been ganging up on me, but i put my foot down. i just won't do it. (I think I may hear about it for the rest of my naturaly life though...)
@coffeekitty:I wish I could have put my foot but my uncle was the one who bought me the dress, so bascially he told me no veil = no dress! Oh well my ceremony is only 15 minutes and then that sucker is coming off!
as of right now i'm not planning on wearing a veil. i like them on other girls but have never felt like it was something i wanted to wear. hopefully i won't cave to pressure in the coming months. my plan is to wear my hair pulled back at the nape of my neck (or maybe a little off to the side) and wear a flower pinned into my bun.
I will be a no veil bride, my sister (first pic) was a no veil bride, and my step sister (second pic) was a no veil bride.
I have personally never gotten into the veil thing. There are actually a LOT of wedding traditions that I don't get into: I don't like veils, I don't like stark white dresses (they look awful on me), I don't like unity candles, as well as a long list of kitchy tradtions that just never impressed me.
I am not sure how i will be wearing my hair just yet (I have forever) but I will likely wear it up or half up. I love my hair when it's down, but with an outdoor ceremony I don't want to risk crazy hair in the face if it gets windy!
I plan to just wear a decorative flower in my hair. I think it says "Bride" just as much as a veil, and it is much more fitting with my taste.
I am a no vail bride. I thought about doing a birdcage vail but in the end they alway seem so ackward on. Here is a picture of my hair/makeup trail with my headband
No veil for me - even though my mom's veil was the only bit of her wedding attire I touched. Just something more to worry about, and the symbolism doesn't apply.
you are not alone! i didn't wear one either, my dress had a lot going on up top, so i thought it would be too much. sorry to hear that others brides actually got crap for not wanting one. i guess in some cultures it's that important?? stay strong!
I plan to be a no-veil bride as well, but that's as far as I've gotten. Don't know how to do my hair or anything yet!
i will be a no-veil bride! i haven't totally decided on my hair yet, but probably something along the lines of:

and this is my hair fascinator, which i thought about adding a black birdcage to but haven't totally decided on that either.

I'm a no veil bride too! Just a simple updo with a pretty flower for me!
No veil for me, either. I'm making a fascinator with an antique brooch, probably something similar to this:
I'm in a similar situation to some posters... my family is pressuring me to wear a veil, my FI doesn't want me to because he thinks it looks "cheesy," and I'm only 2 weeks away from my wedding with no decision made! Grrr...
No veil for this girl! We're having a destination wedding and I can just imagine how I'd look on the beach with a bug net flapping in the breeze. I also only like a few kinds of veils and to me it's just not worth the effort. I'm planning on going with a very strapless ballgown (one that's not embellished and has no train) made of cotton eyelet. i honestly cannot imagine a veil that would match!
This is the hairstyle I'm planning on....it's not super different than what I have in most days, just fancier. And I'm planning on having a big white peony (or plumerias) in there as well.
My sister was a no-veil bride and it was lovely. Much better than my other sister who had a gigantic ballgown with 50 layers of tule and beads and one of those giant, poofy veils. Yikes.
okay, for some reason I can't upload the picture even though it's small. I'll try again later.
I am not wearing a veil either, but I am going to do either a flower or ribbon headband instead. I just feel for me the veil is a waste because I don't want it over my face so it would just hang there the whole time.
I'm not doing it either - too much stuff all over the place.
No veil for me either. I will be getting married on the beach, and doing my hair like this, with fucshia orchids and no babies breath:

I didn't wear a veil. It didn't really work with the look I was trying to achieve and I dislike the sensation of fabric, netting or tulle on/around my face.
so happy to see there are so many anti-veil brides! i feel like everyone thinks i'm crazy.
@j.grossman13: i think it is somewhat culture-dependent. in a jewish wedding there's a whole pre-ceremony ritual where the groom and his family inspect the bride (to make sure she is the right girl--stems from the biblical story of when jacob was tricked into marrying leah instead of her sister rebecca whom he loved) and then the groom lowers the veil over his bride's face before they walk down the aisle. luckily FI isn't jewish and thinks veils are weird too, but i think my parents are hoping i change my mind.
This is a friend of mine that got married earlier this summer. She was beautiful with just three flowers in her hair.
Obviously, that's how I'm planning to do my hair on the big day. Sans veil and with sparkly doodads instead!
Veils tend to cover up the back of the dress and the hair. Why spend so much time and money on something just to cover it up?
@MsBlueberryBee: I would have said no thank you to the dress and I am not kidding.
I am happily not wearing a veil! Why ruin a perfectly good hairdo & dress?
No veil here although my Mom is definitely pushing me to look at them. Too bad for her it's too late to order one! I need to find something in my hair. As of right now I'm not wearing ANYTHING in my hair but that might be a bit boring. I guess I have to find a flower or something.

Are you out there? Am I the only one? Feel like talking about unveiled hair how you are wearing it?
