Ok.. on facebook, an old friend from middle school.. that's right MIDDLE school asked to be my friend.  We started talking about what's going on with us.  I told him I was engaged, his response  " congrats, I better get an invitation.." UHHH... no.  I had to say " no offense, but you won't be getting an invitation".  I'm so peeved with people thinking they can just invite themselves to events like that!  I haven't seen you in over 10 freakin years, please get a life!!

    Ok.. I've vented

    Thanks bees for listening lolol

I get those all the time! Worse, I had a girl who is my LITTLE SISTER'S "friend" tell me she was so excited about the wedding when she found out we were engaged. Then she proceeded to say, "We've always been like sisters, I better be in the wedding party, Marci!" I don't even know what she's talking about. Like sisters???

LOL @ Marci oohh now you two are "like sistres" ppsshh whatever!

I honestly think it's so rude to invite yourself.. anywhere, but to a wedding.. everyone knows that weddings are expensive, why do you even feel you should be invited? I will never understand it.

OMG! Please let me tell you a story from this weekend.

So there is this guy I know, I'd call him more of an acquaintance than a friend. I saw him out this weekend and the first thing he said to me was "Where the hell is my invitation??" I honestly just said straight up "Sorry, I don't know you that well and we have limited space!" He looked at me with this 'how DARE you?!' look. Dude, I'm just being honest. I *don't* know you that well and we have a crazy guest list as it is. AND if we DID have room, YOU would not be the first to fill up the space. Lol...ok that felt good Innocent

Tee hee I'm glad I'm not the only one! I deleted IM from my computer because an acquaintance from college kept IM-ing me late at night (she's in LA) saying "we can't wait for our invitation to your wedding!" Then she'd refer to my fiance as Jerome (he's Jamaal) LOL. Some pople are just nutty!! At least she hasn't said "how dare you!" that's over the top!!

We're pretty young so our friends haven't really been to weddings / planned their own weddings yet. I don't think some of them realize how much it costs! They just don't understand why we're not inviting everyone we've ever spoken to. FI and I are sticking to our guns mostly, but it gets so annoying!

@sjones: oh good lord I was so nervous about the BM situation and people assuming they were one. I pretty much asked all of my BMs the day or day after I got engaged so there was really no question. Still, though, that would make me so mad.

Haha... I bet he was just making conversation/joking around with you.

I think sometimes we all need to take a step back and realize not everyone is a potential mouth to feed, just dying to go to our nuptials.

@ fiya.. uh.. no he was serious.  He was offended when I told him he wouldn't be invited.  I'm not acting like everyone wants to come to our wedding, but there are a lot of people that assume they'll be invited for whatever reason.  Maybe you haven't experienced that.
