I have very mixed feelings about this. I'm not sure whether to be happy that even someone previously so confirmed in his anti-gay sentiments has been able to figure out that gays are human, too, or to be disgusted that it took so long.

I think you can be both. I felt the same way when I read that yesterday. Also add in a third emotion of fear that (if she is being genuine) she actually believed that gay people were gay for the purpose of destroying America. That kind of ignorance I find terrifying...
