@StL.Ashley:  What county are you in? You can try looking on meetup.com. 🙂 I live in central NJ.

Ugh sorry I did my read the bottom part your new boss should introduce you and stuff. It’s kind of awkward at first but just ask if you can sit w/ people at lunch. The girls I work with I wouldn’t be friends with outside of work, but I have had friends at old jobs. Haha the girls are just weirdos at my job.

@StL.Ashley:  I would look outside of work- join a book club or a crossfit gym! That’s where I made most of my friends!

I’m from South Jersey 🙂

I live 45 minutes west of Philly now, but if I lived closer I’d hang out with you! 🙂 I second meetup.com. There are a ton of people in the SJ/Philly area.

Too far for me, sorry!! I would hang out… I am pathetically bad at making new friends (but wish I was better!) haha

Happy hour seems to be the way new people integrate in my company. Then, once someone (what like the popular kids?) likes you, they’ll invite you to a house party (yes my coworkers are all young and nuts hahaha) and that sort of helps you to make friends.

My girlfriend meets people all. the. time. through meetups.

An athletic activity would help you make some friends.

The last friend I made, I met at a bar on a cruise ship! So don’t rule out bars for making friends – you never know!

@StL.Ashley:  Maybe we could try to get together a weddingbee meet up somewhere in Jersey?

Any other Jersey ladies interested? I live in the Princeton area so maybe we could do it there (middle of the state) or a little bit further south depending on where people are coming from.

@StL.Ashley:   Do you have hobbies or special interests/pursuits?  You could put photos or posters relating to those interests on your desk or in your cubicle or whatever – that might be a good conversation starter.  If you are a big reader the library or bookstore is a good place to meet people.  Keep looking at meetups, too, they are fun and pretty casual.
