Some questions for brides!
I’m having a cocktail party-vibe wedding (NYC rooftop on a Saturday night; fancy but not stuffy) and I’ve never, ever seen myself in a traditional white gown. So I’ve been envisioning a champagne colored, or maybe a metallic, dress — maybe tea length, maybe flowy, maybe sleek, maybe glittery, but definitely not white or traditional. (Not that there’s anything wrong with that! I just don’t see myself in that kind of look. No veil, no garter toss, no cake cutting, etc. Just an awesome fancy party!)
I worry about looking like I’m at a prom, or just at a formal event, rather than my wedding. I want to look like the bride without looking like a princess. Does anyone else struggle with this?
I’d love to see some dresses/looks that maybe match mine so I could get some inspiration. Did anyone out there not go to a bridal salon and instead buy off the rack? Did anyone buy a non-bridal gown and make it work?
I really love some of the dresses I tried on and I think I’d be happy with several of them as my gown. I guess before I commit I’m just wondering if anyone did anything similar, and whether you had regrets?
