JCPenney, Belk, Dillards, Nordstrom, Macys....really any department store. Target even has them on their website now. JCrew?
Any dress can be turned into a BM dress... go to any store that you would usually but evening dresses at and pick one. I got mine at Nordstrom for very cheap!
@As_You_Wish: I'm not sure what stores you have up there, but you can probably find something at any of them. If not, you can look at the ones we have and see if they ship to Canada?
@BoiledPNut: Good point. I'm looking online right now. It looks like they can ship to Canada. Thanks!
target urban outfitters, lulus.com, delias.com, jcrew, banana republic
Just an FYI if you are ordering from USA stores and having the dresses shipped to Canada - there can often be really high shipping, duty, and taxes fees associated with these shipments, which makes reasonably priced dresses extremely expensive all of a sudden. So just make sure you are aware of these costs if you decide to order from the states. As for places in Toronto to look at, Yorkdale mall has an RW&co, Banana Republic, JCrew, etc. They also have beautiful dresses at Holt Renfrew and BCBG (although pricier, I am not sure of your budget). Two other indpendent Toronto stores that are good to check out are Henkaa and Champagne and Cupcakes.
I am not a fan of Dessy but they do have a great selection of bridesmaid dresses and they can ship to you. Also try David's Bridal, they can also ship. However, prom season should be coming up and a lot of department stores should have a formal selection both in juniors and misses (stock up). So start checkin gout your local department stores since.
My MOH tried on some really beautiful purple dresses at Bloomingdales.
Try The Bay, RW&Co, even Winners. Or plan a girls trip down to Buffalo and look at the stores there!
Any store that sells formal dresses that you are likely to find several of the same dress in different sizes.
If you aren't set on them wearing the exact same dress, you can always let them wear a black dress of their choosing.
Laura (they have a great outlet at Dixie Mall, super cheap, but it's no refunds, no holds, no exchanges, final sale, so you have to be 100% sure of your purchase!), RW & Co, The Bay, Sears, Le Chateau (also has a number of outlets around the GTA/Mississauga area, but the one at Dixie Mall is really tiny, I heard the one up around Dundas/Dixie is great), and Melanie Lyne.
J. Crew all the way. Purchase dresses online just like you would from the store...same policies, normal dress sizes, 60 days to return or exchange. Very very easy to work with. Their dresses are gorgeous as well.
All good suggestions but I don't think you have to discount traditional bridesmaids dresses completely if that's your preference. We didn't even start looking until late feb for my early July wedding and none of the stores indicated there would be any issue getting them in on time. I think I ordered learly march and they were in well before my wedding dress that came at thebeginning of June.
I would definitly recommend Le chateau or RW&CO .. love their dresses!!
I bought my BM's dresses from Nordie's.... I purposely avoided Bridal stores and stuck with department stores so we shopped at Macys, Bloomie's, and Neiman Marcus. Ultimately we found them at Nordie's....
@SapphireSun: Thanks for mentioning this. I'm not sure why the lady at the bridal store that I went to told me it would take 8 months. That seems like a REALLY long time. I might check out some other stores and see what they say.
I got mine from Banana Republic and Ann Taylor has some good ones. Nordstrom is another good source.
JCrew, Banana Republic, or maybe you could try House of Brides online.

My FI and I have just decided to bump our wedding from this September until June which means I have 3 months less to get things done than I had originally planned (we changed the date because we need to relocate this summer since FI has found a job out of town...it's really bad timing). I wasn't stressing about my wedding until a couple days ago and now it is FULL ON lol. I bought my wedding dress a couple months ago but I hadn't even looked at bridesmaid dresses until yesterday. I was told they can take up to 8 months to order
. Even if we were to order them today (which is impossible because everyone lives in a different city and it'll take some coordination to get us all together), there would be less than 5 months left till the wedding.
The bridesmaids will have purple dresses but I don't care if all of the girls have the exact same style or shade of purple, as long as the material is the same. I was a bridesmaid in a wedding once where we bought the dresses from Sears and they were actually quite nice and really affordable. I'm not really sure where else to look for dresses that isn't "bridal". If anyone has suggestions (and pics!) that would be super helpful.
