I saw the coolest little edible favors in Martha Stewart Weddings it's on page 68. Here's a link to the picture and recipe: http://www.marthastewartweddings.com/goodthings/contain-your-joy
I love that you said tchotke. MY future brother in law has a wine vinyard so we are giving all of our guests a bottle of wine OR I wanted to make a donation to the ASPCA for everyone. I think these are both nice ideas-I've also seen personalized bloody mary mix-i thought that would be cute-maybe with some advil for the next day hangovers. haha.
@flamingred -- I just went to a wedding where the couple bottled mini bottled of red wine and those were the favors + seating cards. The wine was great! For under 21 / non drinkers they had a bottle of rootbeer from a local company. I LOVE this idea.
@fancygirl -- I think edible favors are a good way to go. What kind of chocolate is your venue giving away? Is there some sort of drink you could give that would be complementary? I agree about tchotkes too.
Thanks for the ideas!
@GaBGal - I believe the venue is giving out small chocolates once the guests receive their cars back from the valet. That's why I was thinking of going with something different such as the tea tin or perhaps small packages of coffee.
I think the tea tin is a very cute idea. I also like macarons, but you're right, they can get expensive. I'm getting married in NYC as well and was thinking maybe mini black-and-white cookies would be cute!
@wheresmydessert - that's such a cute idea! I live in NYC but am getting married on Long Island. :)
I am doing mini bottle of champagne with a personalize label and mini boxes of yummy chocolate truffles
It may not go with your overall theme, but I love the link FutureMrsTal suggested- cupcakes in a glass jar are sooo Martha! How cute :)
As for the wooden spoon, you could get them personalized here: http://store.papercupdesign.com/wu3.html
(not sure if I found this on the hive or not... ahh all the wedding blog madness!)
I'm doing bing cherries in a lovely damask favor box. I agree with edible. I can't tell you how many lame favors I've collected over the years. You end up tossing them when you get home.
We're having an October wedding, so we're doing caramel apples, yum! I'm going to wrap themselves with clear wrap, different shades of brown and orange ribbon, and a tasteful tag. I completely agree with you on the silly tchotkes; they're a complete waste of money.
Oooooh I love the idea of caramel apples @cynthia225! We had a party/reception for my future MIL's retirement and my future SIL made a ton of them-- they were oh-so-yummy! And you know those won't go to waste!
@cynthia225 -Ooh caramel apples sound delicious!
Thanks for the suggestions! Even though I still have a way to go, I'm leaning towards the tea tin or I just found a place on LI that does elegantly-wrapped monogram cookies or cupcakes, so baring price issues, that may be another nice option. :-)

Hi all- obviously this is subjective, but I wanted to get some imput as to what you all think constitute as nice favors. I only want to do edible, as I feel nobody wants a random tchotke. My first idea was a pair of macarons in a lovely box, but this would get very expensive for almost 200 guests. Then I saw a cute, simple tea canister with a tasteful label. My other idea was personalized chocolate bars, but our venue is giving chocolate to guests as they leave, and is a candy bar too cutesy? Just curious on some opinions. Thanks a lot! :)
