Hello – I am 90% sure I am going to book a date at the Pruyn House for late August 2010. Since it is an outdoorsy type of venue I am concerned about possible rain. I am also concerned that it will be too hot in the barn. Has anyone else taken a risk like this, or had their wedding at the Pruyn House or somewhere else that is not climate controlled? Is it worth the risk?

I am not in NY, but we had a partially-climate controlled wedding in DC in July last year. Our venue was half tented, and the other half had a few dinky air conditioners. It was definitely hot, but it was fine. It poured the day before our wedding, so the Saturday evening at our venue probably stunk (our ceremony was outside, uncovered), but our day was great. It’s definitely a risk, but if you love the venue, I say go for it!
