    Hi Bees,

So, yesterday I met with my coordinator and the guy who is handling all of my rentals (we have a non-traditional reception venue, so we're renting almost everything).

I'm having a tapas reception, not a sit-down dinner, so there won't be place settings on the tables. The rental guy brought up an idea that I wanted to bounce off of all of you. We are doing pretty simple decorations, spending more on draping and lighting than flowers, so the tables are going to be somewhat bare (simple arrangements and candles). There is no assigned seating, and there is a variety of different styles of seating, but he thinks we should have a focal point of interest on each table.

He suggested we do some activity based table decoration. Any thoughts or ideas? First things that come to my mind:

    - playing cards

    - scrabble or another somewhat simple game

    - photos of us as kids, especially if we can get them with other family members

Any other thoughts? Our reception is more active and party-like than most, so having something fun and different would be appropriate. Thanks in advance!

I like the idea of the photos - they're always great to look at!

I also like the idea of photos. If you wanted to have pictures of other family members as well, you could use ones from past weddings in your family. I want to have wedding pictures of our parents, aunts and uncles, grandparents, etc. included somehow at our reception. I think it's a great way to honor the tradition of marriage, and it's a neat conversation starter!
