I love candles, luckily they can be had for cheap and they look fancy. I’m doing mainly candles, different heights in glass vases or on colored glass chargers. SO cheap and SO romantic.

I love the look of limes in vases!  Candles are great… pillars, floating, dying the water purple, if you have a theme like wine, use wine corks.  My wedding planning days are over… one month to go!  So, I’ve seen so many things I love.  I found a lot of inspiration on project wedding.  I’d check them out.

How about something like this. You can do the plain candles, and the limes with the faux-floating candle. I think it’s a beautiful alternative to flowers!

I seen some of these that I really loved!!! I know some have flowers; but you could compromise them with moss or cherry blossoms or something else purple

“clearly she has been smoking crack” LOL LOL LOL  Try bunching glads together with rafia bow, or green ribbon….centered in the limes. Very reasonably priced flowers with big bang for your buck! good luck

I love the look of limes in a bowl, you can fill it with water, put a floating candle or two in the water, and put a purple ribbon around the vase.

If my flower quote comes back too high, I might have to come up with a last minute non flower look.  I’m thinking about check out fake baby’s breath.. it will be nearly impossible to tell the difference!  We’ll see 🙂

Good luck!

You could also add some flowers here and there for next to nothing. You could do limes in vases on half the tables, and in the other half, half cylinder clear vases of varying hieghts (3 or 4 per table). In half of these vases, do the limes again. In the other half, fill them with water and place a single spidermum on top (they’re green and the float quite nicely!) or submerge one strand of green orchids. This is inexpensive and most importantly easy to DIY – you could just explain to a family friend how to do it the week before and they could do the morning of the wedding in about two hours.

not that i don’t agree that $80 x 16 is a lot of money… because i definately do… but did you girls think that maybe it’s so expensive because of WHAT you’re asking for? i think it’s unfair to say the florist is ‘smoking crack’ because of an expensive arrangement.

yes flowers are fresh and die a week later so they’re not the greatest investment but there’s a lot of time, work and talent, not to mention probably quality, high end flowers, that go into those $80 center pieces. maybe if you went back to the florist with your budget she would be happy to help you find something more affordable.

maybe you could mix in a few floral arrangements with the lime arrangements to keep the cost down?

I have to agree with msbug – $80 isn’t so crazy depending on what you asked for. Are the flowers you selected out of season? Or are they expensive blooms to begin with? (Peonies, garden roses and some types of orchids are super expensive).

$80/centerpiece is actually not that bad.

have you considered switching out some flowers for cheaper flowers?
