I like that we get to post in the pregnancy section!!
(In answer to your question - I have no idea, I rarely wear leggings
)
I've still been able to wear my regular leggings, even up on my belly, at 16 weeks. I'm not sure how much longer I'll be able to wear them that way, but a lot of other stretchy waist pants I wear under the belly now since they're more comfy that way. I haven't had to go up a size yet. But I'm not sure if the regular leggings would dig into my underbelly once it gets really big? I'm finding that panel pants really can be wonderful already :)
My OB told me a trick with support stockings that I think could probably work with leggings. Since the maternity ones are way more expensive, she said just to buy regular, and then you cut them I think vertically where the belly goes. I'd only do it to a cheapy pair though!
When I wear stockings I cut the sides vertically to ease the tension under my belly otherwise it digs into my belly when I sit down. I only have one pair of leggings and is low rise hipster type of legging so it doesnt get uncomfortable.
Depends on the leggings. Some of them I can still wear if I keep them underneath my belly. My stockings though are def WAY too tight to wear now. I might splurge for one pair of maternity stockings.
I got a 2 pack of maternity leggings (black & gray) from Old Navy when they were on sale I think I paid like $18 for 2 pairs? Or F21 has a "pregnancy" essential pack that comes with leggings, tank and belly band for like $20 I think.
I love Gap's maternity leggings. I got them on sale with a 30% off online coupon!
I have a pair of cotton leggings (more pant-like than opaque) that I tuck under my belly. For nylons and tights, I've just purchased them up a size and it's much more comfortable and might work better for your style of leggings. Basically, since the waist band is sitting much lower than normal, buying a size larger gives you that added elasticity so the waist band isn't cutting into you.
@regberadaisy: i'll def check that out!
Good responses---i never even thought of pantyhose because I hardly wear them but it's good to know, thanks!
I can still wear non-maternity leggings @ 34 weeks but I think the maternity ones are way more comfortable. I have the Old Navy ones and also a pair of full panel ones from Motherhood. I think they were only $20- which I think is pretty reasonable for maternity wear. The full panel ones are my favorite- I think because there isn't any kind of band near the waist. If you are going to wear leggings a lot, I think they are worth the investment.
I'm still wearing some of my leggings that sit low enough that they're below my belly. I did have to invest in maternity tights though, which was one of the very best pregnancy purchases I have made so far.
I'm 22 weeks and the elastic on my regular ones cut into my belly. I bought a 2 pair pack at old navy that are $25 and they always have coupons so I think I got them for 30% off. However, my favorite one's I paid $10 for and they are from the H&M maternity line MAMA. I'm wearing them right now and I could wear them every day!
Ok I am in love with leggings too... especially in the winter... especially with boots. You can def wear non maternity leggings. I did buy 1 pair of maternity leggings bc I got them on a redic sale....AND.,. BEST PART... they had a fold to cover my butt since not all my maternity shirts were long enough.

I think I paied $19.99 for these.. watch out for additional % off sale. Non maternity leggings are def uncomfortable now (36 weeks)... they are just a little tighter not so much in the belly bc I put it under neath my belly but my calves are just a little more swollen than my non pregnant self. The maternity leggins have paid for themselves. Hope this helps!
maybe just buy a size or two up? then you have a little give without the extra expense.
@nonoame: "The maternity leggins have paid for themselves." < I bet, especially because I won't be working this summer so pretty much i'll live in leggins and tunics
@kerensa: i think thats what i'll do. if I get to the point where i cant wear tem, i can always wear them after baby...
@mwitter80: h&m has a mat line?! I'm googling it, I hope they have one near me
I got my pregnancy leggins on ebay (new) for next to nothing!
SoSO much better then normal leggins- My normal ones were starting to roll down and I dont have a big bump yet at 19 weeks!
I wear mine constantly and I have a pair for bed too as I love the support!
I just checked what I spent- $8 per pair from ebay :)
@TurtleDoves: I still wear some of my non-maternity leggings that come up really high on my stomach. I have maternity leggings now (13w3d) and they are really comfortable! A trick from one of my mommy friends about wearing non-maternity leggings--if you can, wear them backwards. Put them on with the tag in the front---there is more material for your bottom and at the beginning or maybe the whole time, that bottom isn't growing as much as your tummy is. I've done with that with some of my leggings and it was super comfortable.
@cacamillis: FOUND THEM!!! GOOD IDEA! They go all the way up the belly and are 7.88!! I am ordering 2 to start....black and gray
@miss bonnie: I will def try that to get me through the first trimester bloat:) All my leggings right now are tight because little miss ME likes to wear everything skin tight......Can't do that anymore:(
ugh I couldn't wear my non-maternity leggings past about 18 weeks. I was so mad, and I didn't want to pay $20+ for a pair of leggings either. I was peeved.
I think as long as your original leggings aren't binding on your stomach you should probably be okay. I'm personally having issues with my SPANX tights now because they hurt my stomach.
I am still wearing my regular leggings at 22 weeks. I might check out some maternity options just to stock up early, for some reason, leggings always seel out like crazy in NYC around March. So annoying.

I have a ...."special" relationship with leggings. We're in love. But, I've noticed that maternity leggings are much more expensive than normal leggings so I am wondering if I could get away with wearing my old leggings through-out my pregnancy? I have opaque, cotton-y leggings that I usually wear under sweaterdresses.
If so, should I go up in size or will my current size be OK since i'll be wearing the pants underneath my belly? < No belly YET but it'll get there....
