What things are you (and/or your fiance) unwilling to budge on?

Quality of food and wine!!  That's the biggest part of our wedding and we're so excited that it'll be top notch!

Hmm.. so far we haven't 'budged' on the whole no kids at the reception rule. Other than that, all our parents suggestions have been great and we are happy to compromise (Hope I'm not jinxing myself here). For example we really wanted a DJ, but my Mom convinced us to go with a band.

Some things off the top of my head: the colors and our vision/theme, the alcohol and having an open bar at the reception, the type of food, a military sword arch after the ceremony, and the type of flowers. I'm sure there's some others but those immediately came to me.

Ha my FI is really easy going with planning and making decisions but a few things he is adament about is having a traditional bride and groom wedding topper for our cake and having a "badass" exit with a classic muscle car.

A great photographer! We wanted to ensure we were 100% satisfied with the quality and amount of photographed memories. So glad we stuck to our plan on this one! =)

Also the open bar. That was definite from the beginning.

Excluding my a**hole alcoholic uncle, his b**h wife and their kids from the guest list. Family they may be but they are terrible terrible people and I would rather elope than have them there.

    The amazing photographer!

HAD to have great pictures! Even though it cost about 4000 dollars. Le sigh.

for me photograpgy. I'm an avid photographer and it's very hard to find a photographer in our wedding area that can pass my questionare and be in our budget.

I've also looked outside, but I'm not paying $400 for someone to travel from 2 hours away. That's just crazy.

Open bar, high quality dress and no religion in the ceremony. (LOL, no god, yes booze! But our families are ethnic Catholics and Greek Orthodox, not many teetotallers.)

No children-this for us has been the biggest sore spot with guests and at the end of the day, my feeling (and his as well) if you can't come we understand.  We have made accomodations for parents that can not find someone to watch their children by providing a sitter onsite, however, it is the parents responsibility to pay.  We just feel like a wedding is an adult affair, especially on New  Year's eve, it's just no place for a child (reception ends at 2:00 am).

Renting better chairs at the venue!  My mom and I went around and around on this one and I finally won!  Its not like I'm asking for expensive chairs, I'm happy with black plastic folding chairs.  I just really do not like the dirty white plastic arm chairs that the public uses everyday in the pavilion.

For us it is an awesome swing band.  I'm also really picky about reception sites. I don't want someplace crowded, with a low ceiling, or with bad sound.  If we are having a fancy swing band we need good sound and a big old dance floor.

Photographer! I picked one with a photojournalist style...love the way the pics tell a story! This is definately one of our top 3 expense items :( BUT we will look back on the day with the photos to tell the story!

Not getting married in a church or by any sort of pastor/clergy. That's the only thing we haven't budged on - and trust me, it's been difficult! People have actually told us our marriage won't be real.

Nothing outdoors.  This is funny, because we are an extremely outddorsy couple...we camp at least 2 weekends every month, hike, backpack...the outdoors is a huge part of our lives.  But I'm been to way too many outdoor weddings that were miserably hot, humid, sunny, windy, cold or rainy....I'm not interested at all.  It's amazing how many people keep trying to talk us into moving things outside.

And we gave up our ideal venue because the caterer wasn't up to FI's standards (he's a chef, and good food was not negotiable).  I'm really sad to lose the buliding, but I promised him good food, and so good food it will be...

    We had several things.

    1) Getting married and having the reception in the same place

    2) having food that is US (i.e. not fancy wedding food! we're having an asian and mexican buffet... can't wait!!)

    3) shunning any tradition that isn't us. Our invites are informal, our ceremony music is our favorite modern songs, there will be no garter toss or boquet toss.

Having food that's at least semi-expressive of us and our backgrounds (he's from the South, I love anything local and seasonal). A good photographer that fits into our budget. So many people have suggested their roommate's former boyfriend's cousins... which would be fine if that person were a professional with a good portfolio, but not someone with a digital camera who likes photography.

I always pictured an outdoor ceremony so we have a backup of a tent in case of rain. I want it outside! We both want a variety of music so a DJ was necessary -

Other than that, we have been open to suggestions

This is a fun one :)

Before we even got engaged, Mr. O and I agreed that we would not be wearing shoes and it would be a secular ceremony.  Quickly after we got engaged, no veil and being on a beach got added.
