Very pretty dress.
I like the simplicity of the hair with the large skirt, but a low chignon would look nice, but its tough to just trust it will look the way you want with a new person. Maybe just tell her what you want to change (more loose curls?) for the day of. You know at the minimum if she does the same thing it will look great.
love love love!!! are you still going to do the lace jacket too? i can't wait to see them together!!! i love the idea of a soft, low chignon on you (maybe a bit to the side?) with a few strays near your face. GORGEOUS!!
@kitzy: Thank you. I got it from the store I bought my original dress at. Luckily it works with this one too! It's just a plain cut-edge with blusher. it's longer than chapel but not all the way cathedral. We custom cut it to the length best for the dress.
@lefeymw: True, I do know it will still look good at min. :-)
@elliestan: yes, I will be doing the jacket for the ceremony. It was altered to be boat neck and 3/4 sleeve and looks awesome! We didn't take any pics in it though :-(
I think your overall look is perfect. I'm so happy you got that dress...you look beautiful!
(I wouldn't mess with your hair unless you hate it. It looks great.)
I think your hair looks great :)
Your dress is beautiful! I'm glad you went with that one & that you found it! I remember that you were thinking of changing to that dress, but couldn't find it anywhere in your size in good condition.
I think your hair looks great and the pictures turned out well. And I'm glad you went back and got this dress.
Do you have an inspiration picture that can show us more of what you were hoping for? I like the way your hair turned out but you can probably pull off a lot of different hair styles so you should try and get what you want.
I love your whole ensemble!
For the hair- if you want loose curls, you need to tell your hairdresser to curl your hair, and then don't use a comb or a brush in order to keep the curls defined. If she can't put down her comb, either find someone else or ask to do the front part yourself. Some people just can't get the "no-brush" concept.
@Jacqi: I think part of the problem was the way she curled the front section. Taking wide sections and just rolling, not doing a spiral...

My hair dresser wants to do more of a 'waxy' product day of?
She was doing really well with the back and then did the front smooth... which i was like... wait, I showed you pictures, SAID curl the whole head so when we pull it back it's a tousled curl pulled back.... how did this happen!? lol
I'm just nervous about not having another trial but at the same time, don't want to spend $ on another up-do.. and then theres the time aspect... lol
Do you have any natural curl in your hair? Have you tried any curl enhancing product that you put in the hair while wet and then dry with a diffuser? When I do my hair it is easier to work with a curly base and just tame the wild ones/and curl some pieces than trying to curl each piece.
I definitely would not try any new product, especially a waxy one on the day of my wedding. I think you need another trial, or at least try out the products on your own.
When you saw how the front was turning out did you ask her to change it or did you not mention it?
When I first went to my hair appointment (no trial) she did it completely different than I had pictures of and wanted. But after a few times of saying I actually wanted the curls to be more like ....., we started to get on the same page.
She did a good job with your hair so it seems like she's fairly competant, but I guess it just depends if you feel like you can get your ideas across to her.
@Jacqi: It's still not enough. My hair is insane... Straight in the back, wavy on the side, curly around the face...
I also recently had a brazilian blowout... so while the hair hold curl, my natural is even more relaxed :-( The hairdresser did also suggest maybe coming wet (um, can't you just "wet" me there? lol) so she can put product in and diffuse. I don't want crunchy hair though...
@troubled: At first she did the side and it wasn't completely flat but not really curly.. so I tried to give her the benefit of the doubt... she did still have the curling iron in her hand! Then, she started to do even curlier sections so I was like... ah, Ok, she's got it... then all of the sudden it was back to sleek!? So I was like, "the back is good.. but the front isn't what I was thinking... I want more curl and texture to the front so it's like I have curly hair pulled back, not straight hair with pinned curls."
That's when we talked about different product and such and she was like "i don't have time to totally redo this so we'll get it done the day of." Ugh.
Hmmm, that's a tough one because I feel like a trial is supposed to be a time when you get to explain and figure out how you want your hair. I'd be a little unhappy too with her response. But if she did the back in a good way and you try out the product before you go maybe it's still better than taking a chance with someone completely new? Ok so I'm just going to be completely not helpful because I really like the inspiration pictures you posted, because they also have the curls a bit lower so you can see them a bit from the front, but that's another thing I'd want to try before deciding....so I donno. I mean I really like how your hair turned out though so at least whatever happens it's just details and it'll look good either way.
@troubled: I'm wondering if I should try another place tomorrow and see what they say... if they can fit me in on monday maybe...
@popover: Thank you :-)
Aww, you look beautiful! I love love your dress and can't wait for your wedding pics. Also nice to finally put a face with the name after I've read so many of your posts :)
UPDATE: I made a trial appt with a different salon (luckily closer to me as well) for Thursday. We'll see how that goes!
You're gorgeous!
Would love to see a pic of the finished jacket when your pics come in!!
@KLP2010: Are you back from your wedding yet?!? Can't wait to read recaps especially after seeing these pictures!

Sorry, there are no users yet.
I met up with a friend yesterday and only have a few previews, but thought I'd share!
So happy I ended up in the Justin Alexander!!!!
Sorry so big :-) Any thoughts about hair would be appreciated. It wasn't exactly what I asked for, it was supposed to be more of a tousled curl pulled back not so sleek. in the back the curls are pinned. Should I find a new hair person to try one more time? Do a complete change day of into a low or side chignon? Or trust that a product change will look good after all is done?
