I would do the older one the color one is kinda blurry and would really not a good for STD.

we used and old photo for our save the dates and they came out great! I would use the 2nd picture though because you want the quality to be really good because it is the first impression that guests will get of what it so come at your wedding.

I definitely don’t think that the picture used needs to be taken by a professional, but I do think it needs to be of good quality.  The top picture is far too cloudy to use, in my opinion.  However, the bottom photo would be fine.

I’m in the minority here, but the first photo shows so much more personality and fun! It IS much worse quality than the ice skating photo, but also, your photo doesn’t HAVE to be the highlight of the save the date, you know? You could bump up the color in the photo:

and then throw it in a typographic layout:

I just threw this together, but you get the idea.
