    Hi All!

I'll be getting married in Burlington, MA in September of 2010 and really need to get started finding someone to marry us!  I'm looking for someone non-religious, but possibly spiritual.

    Any recommendations?

    TIA! Laughing

Hi, Chellery.  I'm an officiant / celebrant based out of NJ, but the institute I was trained through may have someone in your area for you to look into! http://www.CelebrantInstitute.org

MA is also a state where a lay person can apply and get certified to perform one wedding a year, so if you have any friends or family members who you think may be a good match to perform your ceremony, they can pay the $25 fee and be able to legally officiate your wedding!  It may be something to look into if you can't find a JoP, Celebrant, or officiant that works for you.

Did you know that you can had a friend or family member be your officiant? Check it out here: http://www.mass.gov/Agov3/docs/one_day_marriage_designation.pdf

I had a very good friend officiate my wedding. It was lovely and memorable!

We used Skip Brandt - he was incredible. He had a bunch of ceremonies that we could choose from, instead we actually wrote our whole ceremony and he read it word for word. He was funny and had great timing and was really just a nice guy. He does it "for the enjoyment" and for spending money for his teenage kids!  We met with him twice - once to just meet with him about a year before the wedding when we booked him and then just two weeks before the wedding to go over the ceremony with him. He was very quick to respond to emails and just an overall great guy. He works in downtown Boston but lives in Belmont - super close to Burlington!  I sent you a PM with his email address - if anyone else is interested please PM me - I dont want to blast his email on here!

PS  - We also used the help of Jessie Blum (responded above) to help with our ceremony and she was AWESOME!!

    I'd recommend Jean of http://www.justiceofthepeaceconcord.com/

I've seen her in work twice, she has had years of experience and personalizes the ceremony to your personality.

One of our friends is getting ordained and marrying us.  We just wanted someone who we were close to marry us.

    Good Luck with finding someone.

I was also looking for a JOP. I didn't just want anyone, but at the same time, didn't want someone so close to me to just become JOP for our ceremony.

I found this man through my boss, they are good friends! www.justicepatrick.com

His website is very detailed and my boss says he likes to add personal touches to the ceremony.

    Hi-

We're using Lisa Ann and she is great.  She is definently spirtual and takes the time to know you.  She is open to suggestions (I am not religious but want to incorporate some asian traditions) and has some great ideas.  I really enjoyed talking to her and can't wait for her to marry us.
