Hi! I am a newbie and I was wondering (apologies if this topic has been posted about before!) whether any other bees are in a s/s relationship and if so, how did you handle the engagement? Two e-rings? Two separate proposals? One e-ring and two wedding bands? My Girlfriend and I are thinking of getting engaged next fall and have been stumped as to how to handle the details. I would love to hear your stories!

I think you should just get her the e-ring for now and then let her pick what type of band(s) she likes (not everyone likes it to be the exact match to their e-ring). I have two bands, which I love, but not everyone likes/wants to wear two wedding bands.

We had discussed it before and I wanted to be the one do to get down on one knee and do the whole big fancy proposal. Which worked well for us because she had always dreamed of being proposed to. She had asked if she should keep a ring on hand so that when I proposed she could have a ring ready for me, I thought it was silly. However, after I proposed I got ring envy! So she got me a band that has a small diamond set inside it. She gave it to me over dinner with our friends. We will still get different bands for the wedding, but I will only wear once ring since I’m not really big on wearing jewlery.
There is no right or wrong, so do whatever feels right!

@wrkbrk: Honestly I don’t think it really matters. I have some friends that got married and they ended up picking the same ring and band together… The got their e-rings and had the bands custom made..
They both got this e-ring.
There is no rule or code that you can’t do it the way you want!

updates? have you decided what you are going to do OP?

Thanks for the replies! We did decide. Because buying two e-rings could get pricey (ha, this is what you deal with with two girls who like bling ;)), we decided that she would reset her grandmother’s center stone for me (diamond) and I would get her a gemstone ring. We will exchange them at the same time. Then, when we get wedding bands she will likely move the e-ring to her RH. I thought it was important before the actual wedding though that we both “look” engaged. Let me find a photo of the ring we chose for her …
