i am thinking of either bowling and pizza, since none of the bridesmaids and groomsmen know eachother i thought it would be fun for them to get to know eachother so the wedding isnt awkward… is anyone else doing something like this?

I didn’t – my mom planned our rehearsal and wanted to do a dinner (which turned out lovely). But OMG, a bowling rehearsal sounds AMAZING. Do it!

Yay for untraditional! I just sent in our request to rent the picnic area at our local ballpark. Our summer league team is the oldest in the country & it is soo much fun at the games- they have a live band- encourage heckling- sooo much more fun than a MLB game in my opinion. We’ll be cooking the food ourselves/or a friend & probably hit up a few bars afterwards.
I just want everyone to have a blast, get to do fun new things, & sitting at a restaurant twiddling your thumbs ain’t that…. So DO IT!!!!

DH & I love bowling, but we had a HUGE rehearsal dinner (the in-law’s paid, so they determined the guest list) and many of our RD guests were elderly relatives from out of town who would have been too tired from traveling to go bowling 🙁
We did manage to convince MIL that we wanted pizza and beer though, because we were having a plated meal at the wedding we wanted to do something a little more laid back for the rehearsal. She was a teensy bit dismayed at our request, but obliged anyway and everyone had a lovely time.
I say go for it! Sounds like fun 🙂

I think it’s a great idea!
We’re not doing a typical rehearsal dinner, and everyone is really looking forward to it. We are taking everyone to a local sports bar (it has a few seperate rooms, so we’ll have our own private room), we’re getting delicous bar food (chicken fingers, potato skins, mozzeralla sticks etc) a bunch of pitchers of beer and having a fun/casual evening. Our bridal party all know each other.. we wanted something more laid back and fun.. I think it’s going to be great!

- Wedding: August 2013 - Rocky Mountains USA
We’re doing a big BBQ with a keg at a park, and inviting the whole guest list. We’ll ask local friends (~1/3 of the guests) to bring a dish, potluck-style.

i think that sounds good. we just ordered a bunch of pizzas and everyone got together at my parents’ home. it was low key and fun 🙂

pizza and beer (or whatever) at a local restaurant – we had a lot of people from out of NJ who have not had real pizza in a long time, so we thought it would be perfect – about 20 of us had a nice relaxed evening.
