Personally, I would go with the traditional dress. The first one seems like something you could wear anytime and when else are you going to wear the Braithwaite dress? However, it really comes down to what YOU want and feel comfortable in.

Why not do something that is a mix of both like these:

I like the mix of both idea. It’s more unique, a little casual, and still seems big-day special.

I like the ‘mix’ that PP suggested, but between the two in the OP I would prefer the traditional dress.  Also, the dinner after the ceremony is the reception.

2tall:  I think I would go with the more traditional dress. Mainly because if you wear the other dress, you don’t really stand out as the bride.

Love the ones posted above! Also check out BHLDN, they have some cool stuff for the non-traditional bride (as well as traditional.)

Examples:

(I got this one as a possible reception dress, it’s beautiful on.)

My now husband and myself eloped this month and i wore a ‘non traditional dress’ I have had nothing but compliments since showing people photos! Do what EVER you want as its the union  between yourself and hubby that is what’s important, what do you want to see in 20 years time when looking back at photos? a ‘white/cream/ivory’ dress? something out there? a cute tea length multi coloured wonder? Like I said, do WHATEVER you’re happy with and something that makes you feel like you shine!

I would have looked a lot nicer if I was about 5-10 kilos lighter in my dress, but i honestly felt like a goddess, i felt so good in my choice that i didn’t second guess myself!

Here’s mine for reference
