Yay another non-white dress; my dress is a champagne / pale golden color and I'm wearing light pink shoes ![]()
Is the pic above your dress? Beautiful!!!
i also have a champagne color dress! after trying on dozens of white & ivory dresses jaws dropped when i tried on champagne. lucky us for finding fabulous dresses in non traditional colors! i havent decided on shoe color yet though
I don't have my dress, but have not been looking at white at all... started out convinced I wanted pale pink, then looked at champagne, and am now wondering about a pale lilac. I have found the perfect dress for my sister, who will stand up for me, in sort of a platinum color. Now I am wondering if champagne will look okay with that, or if I should go with the pink or lilac. What do you think?
I am glad to see that not everybody else is wearing white. I just can't imagine myself in that much white - I actually don't have any white clothes at all, and don't think I look that good in it.
I think Platinum and Champagne can absolutely look wonderful together. Here is a sort of example:

Lilac! I would love to see that. Gwen Stefani's pink dress was so pretty as well.
I bought a Demetrios gold dress.. it's not really gold though - more champagne/dark ivory with ivory and mauve accents. I love it!!!
I just called tonight to put a down payment on the Maggie Sottero Amara Royale in Scarlet Red!
Actually, I've been meaning to post about this- I want to thank the WB reader that posted that link in the post for dream non-traditional dress. Otherwise, I might not have seen it.
I cannot wait to wear it, everyone is excited about it. :)
I am wearing the monique lhuillier blush pink, which is almost like a champagney pink because in certain lighting it looks like a golden ivory. LOVE IT!!!
I also have a non-white dress. Mine is a "light gold" pictured here: http://www.theparis.biz/paris/Item.cfm?CNum=308 (unfortunately i'm not a size 8, so i couldn't find one for that price, but so it goes
) My colors are green and fall colors to accent, so my main worry is that it will look too yellow next to the green bridesmaid dresses, but i'm just hoping that's all in my head! Everyone was dubious about the color when they heard it was light gold, but once they all saw it on me, they assured me that was definitely the one to go with! I got it last august and it's finally in the store, now I just have to go pick it up!
oh, and what are opinions on the flowers on my dress? they are detachable, so I'm seriously considering just taking them off, but would it look odd without them?
I actually would like a sky blue dress in the gwen stefani style.
Alli, maybe you can take it off when you're having your ceremony so it won't interfere with your bouquet. Then put it back on during the reception? Just a thought! :)
yup it definitely looks like you can detach them with no problem since it doesn't ruche (is that a verb) right up to the flowers. i kinda like them though? maybe a pretty brooch instead?
My dress is non white as well... it actually has purple flowers on it! Strange-I know, but I love it.
http://www.jadedaniels.com/CollectionPages/2082.htmlI have no idea what colour mine will be, I still haven't started trying on dresses to see what suits me (mine's being made for me anyway so I can pick anything! yay!)
I can guarantee it will not be white though. I NEVER wear white unless it's under 50% of pattered fabric, as I am clumsy and messy (and probably will be on my wedding day too) and have skin pale enough that it "reflects" the colour of my clothing. So why the hell would I wear it on the most photographed day of my life?
I'm thinking an orange silk with cream lace overlay, or something like that. Apparently this is reminiscent of a creamsicle to Americans, but we don't have those in Australia :P
What color flowers will all of you non-white-dress ladies be carrying? My dress is light gold, so I am excited to hear there are others.
Mine's the pale pink ML, too! I love it so much. It just feels completely so fresh, yanno? i think I'm carrying either all white flowers...or white with some hot pink. Yay for non-white dresses!
Good question <span class="postby"> c-girl - I have a stupid question to add to it, is there such a thing as ivory/ off-white flowers, in the winter? I just realized I was going to answer "Ivory", but do not think they exist, I can't carry white since the dress is red and ivory and I hate ivory and white together for my wedding :P So anyway, here's a link for my dress since I didn't realize the other ladies were posting theirs when answering the original post :)
Oops, not good, the link did not work and I had some html problems. I do know how to work with computers, I promise!
I plan to hold white/cream flowers with my blush pink dress. They will most likely consist of peonies and tulips or lilies. I like the white peonies with pinkish tips.
This is on-topic:
Since we all have non-white dresses, what color veils are you going to wear? How about shoes or other accessories?
I have no idea what color veil to wear with my pale gray dress!
I have been searching for a lilac dress.. Has anyone found one? I don't want a huge ballgown, something simple, but any direction would be appreciated.
Thanks!
Since it was requested, and another person might need it, here is the link to Miss Bubblegum's original post:

Also, apparently, I need to thank Darlene- so if you're out there, thanks for pointing me in the direction of this Maggie gown!

Hopefully, the link works the second time around
To answer bearbride's question, I'm lucky my dress have ivory lace, so I will be wearing an ivory bird cage veil.
Oh, and I menat to add, maybe if white is a good color on you, a white veil might just go with the gray gown. Or perhaps a blush pink, if there is such a thing?
Good tips Natakie - I'm getting more hopeful! I'm thinking maybe a veil with a little bit of silver thread would be nice
My bridal shop had lots with silver (or gold) thread. Mine has gold. They also had veils that were completely pale grey (or silver), or completely pale gold (champagne). So they are definately out there.
Interestingly, I was really looking for a non-white dress, and have ended up with ivory. I do absolutely love the dress though. I think that I was sort of in denial - didn't want something too bridal. Now I have an ivory dress, with a chapel train, and a veil on order. Big shock to me. FI says (with a smile) that perhaps looking bridal is not a bad thing...
champagne...

Joanne - my friend wore that wedding dress! It was beautiful, I loved the color and the embroidery. Just wanted to share!
I've always known that I wanted to wear a pink dress. Nobody questioned that I wouldn't. I looked long and hard but couldn't find anything that was perfect. I am actually having my dress made in cotton candy pink. A portion of the fabric is coming from a cousin in singapore and is hand embroidered silk organza. Our inspiration dress was the Maggie Sottero Rasharna dress.
I tried it on in the Blush in a bridal store. The reactions were priceless. Every mom in the room started to whisper, told their daughters to look "at that amazing dress." But the sales girl told me no one else has had the guts to try it on since they have had it in their store for over 4 months.
I think it takes a very strong bride to be able to carry off a colored dress.
I will be wearing a white veil with pink edging. I will also be carring a bouquet of mixed garden flowers of hot pink cosmos, hydrangea's and pink dahlias.
No wedding gown at all for me! I'm having a Hindu ceremony (in which I will be wearing a maroon silk sari, which is the equivalent of the white gown for Hindu brides). For the reception, many Indian brides choose to wear a lehnga, but I’m not very traditional or deeply attached to Indian culture, and I would feel neither comfortable nor gorgeous wearing one, so, instead, I’m just getting a designer gown. Of course this means shopping for one is going to be a huge project, but who wouldn’t love shopping for a designer gown!??! I’m probably going to end up getting something purple (my favorite color), but if I find something else I love, then I’ll get it! ![]()
Also, I won’t be carrying a bouquet (not part of the Hindu ceremony) so my bridesmaids won’t have one, either. Saves me the hassle of coordinating their flowers and the extra cost of all those bouquets!

Does anyone here have a non-white dress like me? I always knew I wouldn't be picky between ivory vs white, but the sample sale gown I purchased is a pale gray. Priscilla of Boston calls the color "grigio."
I also love pale pink wedding gowns!
