So…thanks to my recent poll and all your great comments… yesterday I ordered my dress!
I went for the grey Vera Wang dress, and after a sleepless night of post buying panic, I think I’m happy with it 🙂
I am now not sure how to accesorise the dress with it not being ivory/white? Would a veil still work? Or should I just have something in my hair? any advice/ideas from anyone who also had a coloured dress?
Also I tried it with the sash, but I didn’t buy it as I think I liked the simplicity of the outline and you lose the nipped in waist, which I like. So with the dress being quite ‘plain’, I also was considering a statement necklace? Not the one below, but it was just something I had with me to get an idea. Or kerp it simple with no jewellery/sash. I’ll have a bouquet and probably something in my hair.
What do people think? I’d really appreciate your input. You all helped me so much last time picking my dress! 🙂

Skyis2high: I really like the look of the dress without sash plus statement necklace. Very sleek and classy! Beautiful dress too!

That dress is fabulous on you, you totally made the right choice! I agree the no belt+ statement necklace looks the best! I’m not sure what to do about the veil/head piece, that’s a toughie.

I may he in the minority here but I like the sash

Skyis2high: Your dress is sooo beautiful!! I love that color. Looks awesome on you!! I think either way, sash or no sash, you’d be good. Sorry that’s not much help, but both look great with the dress. Congrats!!

I voted for this dress! It looks amazing and so beautiful!! I have dress envy haha.
Statement necklace for sure.
I personally think you could wear a veil, as long as it was the same colour, maybe custom made.

This dress is beautiful – but with the sash! It’s just gorgeous and unique in every way.

Skyis2high: no necklace or sash, I agree with you! Maybe a statement cuff bracelet

Lauren267: Thank you for your vote 🙂 It really helped when making the decision as I got totally confused when I went back to the store. I was worried with it being grey and guests being like ‘what was she thinking?!’ But I told myself 78% of over a hundred people liked this dress too, so I’m not mad! 🙂 I love your dress BTW, I saw it on another thread, it’s gorgeous in its simplicity and looks so good on you.
Good idea on the custom veil 🙂 I was also thinking of potentially a birdcage veil? As a bit more funky and am thinking of having my hair cut short, into graduated bob and dyed a cool whitish blond. Think this might look nice with the grey.
Going to have a rethink about the sash. Hmm I should have put a poll on!

NO SASH! I’m serious! It’s oversize and distracting, and that’s what will date this dress in photos in decades to come. (I see belts on several brdies on WB, belts with big honkin’ flowers, and they are sooooo distracting…)
Necklace? I’m on the fence about that, but I do like the spare, elegant look of no chunky necklace. You have a pretty figure and this dress is lovely, so it’s a classy look. Piling stuff onto it makes it less classy.
The grey color is pretty, I like it!

custom veil… Contact the bridal salon… They can order material directly with your dress so it can be a perfect match.
btw… I usually love sashes but your dress looks sooooo pretty without it 🙂

Colored dress wearer here! I wore a black dress. My accessories (shoes, earrings) were also black, but I wore a champagne veil. You could order a grey veil (etsy might be a good place to look), but you could also save some money and just go to a fabric store and buy grey tulle! I made my veil from my mom’s, and it cost me about 5 bucks (I made her long catherdral veil into a drop veil, and drop veils are easy to make!).
I think, as for the necklace question, that you could choose either a statement necklace with simple earrings (the one you have on is quite nice) or really dramatic drop earrings. I like simple, too (no sash for me!), and that’s the route I would take. It’s hard to remember, too, when you look at yourself in the bridal salon, that you will be all done up on that day with makeup, hair, flowers, etc, and so something that looks “plain” in the shop can look very elegant on that day.

I’d go with a necklace…but the white one looks odd. Maybe metal or a different color.
