I love the idea of nonwhite wedding dresses. I actually bought a gown from neiman marcus to wear for my wedding- I still have regrets that I didn't wear it. My mom was pretty upset I didnt want to wear white (which was weird, because she's so easy going and non-traditional) to make her happy and include her- I bought a white dress.
I love your dress- if you got to www.offbeatbrides.com a lot of the brides rock color dresses.
Congratulations!
I'm going with white, but my FSIL is wearing a purple dress for her wedding, and all the BM's are wearing white! It's gonna be a really different sort of wedding. Purple *everything* including tiki torches that burn purple and purple christmas lights. She's also having a slip-and-slide for the kids (and probably some adults, she's having an open bar). It's gonna be fun, and I think the colored dress will look great! Yours is so cute!
OMG i love your dress. where is it from, may I ask? I'd love to wear something like that. I'm not necessarily set on white.
Mine is actually "blush". I'm a white girl, marrying a black guy in a black tux, so putting me in a white dress really wouldn't do well with the photographs!
My cousin's wife wore black - it was daring but it worked for her!
Oh, and my photographer showed us pictures from a wedding he shot where the bride wore red and all the BM's wore black. It looked awesome!
@marquisemiss: I bought it from Unique Vintage. (www.uniquevintage.com) They have a wide selection of vintage inspired dresses. There are a few white ones too!
One of the bees posted about Unique Vintage but I can't remember who. :(
There's nothing wrong with not wearing white or a white-shade! The great thing about weddings is that as long as they celebrate you and your FH as a couple, they can be anything you want them to be!
That dress would be adorable with crinoline under it (maybe dyed a funky color?) and a cute brooch of some sort!
The trend of wearing a white dress for your wedding is actually pretty recent. Until Queen Victoria wore white (I think it was Victoria), women just wore their best dresses for their weddings. Heck, my mom wore her favorite shorty-sundress for her wedding to my dad in 1972! :)
Anything goes, these days! Feel your best; that's all that matters! :)
My mom wore a red dress when she married my dad! I think she's secretly a little disappointed that I chose white...

As much as I love the white/ivory/champagne wedding dress I found it wasn't my style, I didn't feel beautiful in it and it just wasn't me. I'm wondering if anyone else is wearing a "colored" dress (Like Mrs. Lovebug)? My dress is black with white polka dots and I love that it's not traditional. Am I the only one on weddingbee not wearing white?
