tynakinnon:  I got a Tria for a Christmas present. It works, I used it on my under arms and to touch up my stomach and bikini line, do the odd spot on my face. However it doesn’t work as good as going to a proper medical clinic (the clinic I go to does only hair removal and cosmetic surgery and it works awesome!) with high quality laser hair removal machines. I tried the ones in cosmetic places that do a bit of everything from waxing to laser surgery on eyes and was burnt to the point of blistering, then found out they actually only lighten the hair not permanently get rid of it.

If you have large areas like full legs and a decent amount of hair I wouldn’t bother. If you have small areas that you want to do or are the type of person who can get away without shaving for a bit because you don’t have a a lot of hair then I say go for it.

I however can’t comment on how permanent the Tria is. So far my hair has grown back under my arms, just not quite as much as before.

I got the NoNo for my underarm and pubic area and it was NOT GOOD. It worked fine on my legs, but there’s no way to have it rolling long enough for the wire to heat up in smaller areas. Plus your house/apartment smells like burnt hair for hours. The instructions say ‘burn a scented candle’. Bull. Then your house smells like burnt hair mixed with cinnamon buns or peach bellinis. Not good.  That said, hair on my legs and arms did grow back WAY slower, and finer. So if I had kept it longer I might have hair free legs right now. But to me it wasn’t worth $250. I returned it for the full refund

For about $300, you can get a Groupon for a well reviewed professional hair removal. I did a complete Brazilian for about $400.

Laser only works on coarse, dark hair – I’m a redhead. After I gave up on waxing, I tried electrolysis. I’m still going monthly, and it’s been over 2 years. I only did eyebrows, underarms, and bikini area. They won’t do the parts a Brazilian wax gets. Since I’m a stubborn woman, I have to assume my hair follicles are stubborn, too. Hair removal sucks!

I tried the NoNo a long time ago and really didn’t like it.  Like PP said, small areas don’t have enough time for the coil to heat up.  I bought a groupon for laser hair removal last year and started with my underarms and didn’t go back.  I disagree that it just bleaches out the hair, I have a significant reduction in hair and I barely shave.  When I do, I notice only a few very fine hairs.

I have also done a professional laser, very happy with the results. Shave like 1 a week the three hairs that wouldn’t give to the machine.

Nono does NOT work, don’t waste your money! It doesn’t get stubble and it took me at least fifteen passes to get one strip of hair off my leg (and i have fine leg hair). There is no way it would work on thr pubic area.
