longtimemrs:  We’re still serving cake, just not in the traditional tiered form.  We’re having 5 separate cakes ranging in sizes and flavors, and one of them will be strawberry cheesecake at FI’s request since it’s his favorite.  They’ll be displayed similarly to this:

vip0802:  That is going to be beautiful! I love the idea of different cakes in different flavors. And, of course, you have to have your FI’s favorite in the bunch! I particularly love the way the display is set up with the little tables. Wonderful!

akkaer1:  Cool! How do you cut it?

Chocolate covered rice crispy treats are one of the best things ever invented.

I love the new naked cakes. Not sure if I would have been bold enough to go for it if I knew of it before my wedding. But I think it’s super cute.

Love that!  We had a small cake to cut, some cupcakes for display, and a sweet table

longtimemrs:  I know, I love those mini tables but I couldn’t find them anywhere!  Instead, I bought 5 mismatched cake stands in varying heights so I’m hoping it will look just as nice.

I really don’t like cake either and my husband is pretty indifferent towards it so we had mini cheesecakes instead. We also had a full sized cheesecake to cut, and my husband’s Mom made him a strawberry rhubarb pie instead of a groom’s cake. We ago had a full table of other desserts so there was something for everyone. I made all the cheesecakes myself and my Dad made me a cupcake stand to display them. It seemed to be a big hit with everyone.

akkaer1:  I’ve never heard of a crispy cake before! I think I’d find that really cool as a guest. We had a traditional cake for our wedding but for our engagement party we had a cheese tower and it was SO popular. 🙂

We did a naked cake, because neither of us are big fans of a lot of icing. It was delicious. Love your rice crispy idea, that will be so fun!

akkaer1:  our cake was our fave doughnut stacked on a tiered cake stand then a big 8 inch doughnut on top. I don’t have any pics yet though. Still waiting for the pro picks.
