I know it's really limited for the Bee Board, but I'm getting married at the Palm Event Center in Northern California next summer and would love advice and/or stories from weddings there. Here's hoping...

i just went to a wedding there, it's gorgeous!!!!

the only things i'd suggest is to make sure you have a HUGE tent for shade and LOTS of water for guests all day long. it gets HOT!

Fallbride, was the ceremony indoors or outdoors? We're still trying to decide. It may be nice, since you suggest it gets hot...

the ceremony was outdoors and i think it's a beautiful outdoor area to get married in. i personally think it was fine in the shade, but the guys in their black suits were being big babies, even in the shade =)

one thing to take into consideration is where the sun will be during your ceremony becuz even if you have a big tent, it might not cover all the seats due to the angle of shade. for the wedding we went to, people moved chairs from the sun into shady areas and some even opted to stand up against the building (in the shade) instead of sitting in the sunny seats.

Two of my girlfriends got married there. One in May 2005 and the other in Oct 2006. It's a beautiful location.

May 2005 wedding (which I helped coordinate)

They just opened and were working out the smaller details. There were some areas where construction wasn't finished but main areas were fine.
Service and staf were great and responsive
Meals were great
Ceremony was outside with outdoor post-wedding reception/cocktail hour
Reception dinner was indoors

Oct 2006

Beautiful --grapevines had grown out and landscaping starting to mature.
Service and staff still great and responsive
Food is good but not a "memorable" meal
Ceremony was outside with outdoor post-wedding reception/cocktail hour
Reception dinner was indoors

Key learnings

Make sure there's enough shade for your guests during the ceremony
If you plan on doing a slide show, you will have to use one of the walls to project the image unless you plan on renting a screen large enough for your group. You'll also need to place your DJ accordingly so you can run the sound through his system
The parking lot has gravel so have escorts/ushers to help the ladies wearing heels
