@Lbward6:  While I did not end up getting my dress there, I did work with Nordstrom’s Wedding Suite during part of the process. They were very accomodating and were very nice and helpful durng the appointment. They were even willing to work directly with the designer when I had questions about a specific dress. If you see a dress you like and they carry it, give it a try!

I love nordstrom too!! I had a good experience, but their dress selection is limited. I felt that the quality of service was comparable to most of the boutiques I went to (especially the higher end ones). You can look online beforehand, but the Nordstrom I went to didn’t have all the dresses they had online. If there’s a specific dress you want to try, you should probably call to make sure they have it. They probably had about 4 dresses from each designer. It could just be the one I went to, but their samples were in pretty bad shape. The consultant did mention that some of the Nordstroms don’t carry a specific designtheir there’s a flagship store in the same city (eg, no vera wang’s at the San Francisco Nordstrom bc there is a vera flagship store).

Commenting to follow; I have an appointment at one on Monday (just to try on lots of styles, not intending to buy) but I’d like to hear experiences!

I didn’t shop there but I did look around in the Wedding Suite at the shoes and jewelry. The girls were super friendly and I saw some nice dresses in there. I think it’s worth a stop.

I received excellent service at Nordstrom wedding suite but I agree that their selection was much more limited than I thought it would be. They only had one dress available from the designer I was thinking of- and there were maybe 7 or 8 from that designer listed online!

I went to one. I had nothing but great service! LOVED IT! I just got a simple cocktail style dress. They were super helpful when I tried on different styles and the alterations were perfect. I never felt pressured to get a more expensive dress. They were very complimentary and told me my dress would be perfect for our courthouse ceremony. And it was!!

Edit: I went to the North Park one here in Dallas.

I went to one to try to find the right bridesmaid dresses for my wedding. The girl who helped us didn’t listen to what I was saying.  It took 45 minutes for her to show me the dress I had asked to see in the first 30 seconds of meeting her.

She was also just very odd and slightly awkward.  Perhaps all very specific to that one girl though. Seems like everyone else has had a great time.

@Lbward6:  I didn’t buy my dress there but I did go several times to look at various things like accessories, etc.  It’s gorgeous and exactly what you would expect from a Nordstrom service.

@Lbward6:  I went to Nordstrom wedding suite two times, one as a friend of a bride, and the other as a bride and purchased my dress. I went to the same suiteboth times and had completely different experiences. The first time I felt put off by the stylist, she seemed overwhelmed and uninterested. The second time I went I was apprehensive but they were completely wonderful, the old stylist still remembered me.

I honestly think it depends on when you go and your approach. I would recommend going early morning (fewer people so more individualized attention). Also keep an open mind, if they pull something you dislike tell them because they really are attentive, but it probably is a better place to go once you have an idea of the shape/style of dress you like.

Hope you have a wonderful experience and this helps!

@Lbward6:  Alright so I’m gonna go against the grain on this one. I LOVE nordys. As in it has been my favorite store since I was 5 – which my family will never let me live down, haha. However, I was totally disappointed with my appointment at the wedding suite. I went to the one in SF (Union Square), and it was super small – as in one large mirror and really only one sitting area for family/friends, yet they had multiple fitting rooms. So my mom and sister had to sit on an ottoman since someone else’s family was already on the couch with the mirror. It just is not an ideal set up – very cramped and we had to wait for the previous appointment to finish up just to use the mirror.

Their selection was extremely limited and what they did have was really out there for the most part…it kind of reminded me of going to Nordstrom Rack where you find all the way out there rejects that they couldn’t sell. That said, just like Nordys Rack, it is possible to luck out and find something amazing amongst the craziness! I love Nordstrom for everything else, I buy all my cocktail dresses there, but I wouldn’t waste my time going back to their brial suite again. But you never know – maybe you will luck out – I hope so! Best of luck to you!

@Lbward6:  I did!  I didn’t end up buying from there but the experience was fantastic.  Make sure you make an appointment ahead of time so you can get the best service.  The traditional gowns they had at the location I went to proabbaly started at 1800+.    I highly recommend it.

I had an appointment at the Chicago store and the service was fantastic.  I didn’t end up buying my dress there since, like others noted, their selection was somewhat limited and wasn’t what I was looking for.  Specifically, I didn’t want strapless and every dress was strapless.  To her credit, the associate showed me options for strapless with different boleros.  But in the end, I went elsewhere and found what I really wanted.

I did, however, buy shoes, earrings and a headband at the Nordstrom wedding suite.  They have great accessories!  And the associate was so nice about it.  They even let me buy a bunch of hair accessories to take with me to my hair trial, and then return the ones I didn’t decide to use.  So I’d definitely give Nordstrom a try, but I might also suggest making another appointment at a store with more variety.  Have fun!
