Can’t really say much, but I know that 6.2 is too low to sustain a pregnancy. My doctor says it needs to be at least 10, but preferably above 15.

It’s pretty low. I got pregnant the cycle that my progesterone was 6.3 at 7 dpo, and it ended in a miscarriage due to triploidy. (I am not a doctor, but I suspect that my progesterone was low because of a defective egg, which then led to the triploidy.) My endo said that a 6.3 indicated that I ovulated, but it was “weak ovulation.” He prescribed Clomid to give me a stronger ovulation. I didnt get pregnant this first cycle of Clomid, but my LP has gone from 12 days to at least 15. (I’m 15 dpo today and still only spotting.)

(My doctor said anything over 5 shows that you did ovulate, but 10 indicates a healthy ovulation in a non-medicated cycle.)

one cycle i had my progesterone checked on CD21, it was 12.  i don’t chart and i wasn’t using OPKs at that time so I don’t know what DPO i was.

i am taking a progesterone supplement this cycle to stop early spotting and it is working so far.  i am now 15DPO/CD31 when they were only 24-27 days before with an LP of 8-10 days.

This cycle on cycle day 22- 8 DPO my levels were at 3.8 and thats on my first round of clomid. When we tested in Nov/Dec thy were 4.8 & 3.6. My first doctor said that they were normal but the lower end of normal and that anything over 2.8 ment I was ovulating. I found another doctor who percribed me clomid and said that my levels were low. Since thte clomid didnt do the trick to raise my numbers I will be starting the vaginal progestrone supositiries after ovulation.

So to answer your questions- Yes my numbers were lower than your on 7 DPO. Still havent gotten our BFP tho. I recomend asking your doctor about progestrone sups or clomid.

wyoteacher:  Hey! I’m restarting this thread because I just got my 7 DPO progesterone resutls and they came out to be 8.1. I saw that you just got your BFP – congratulations! Did you do anything to improve your progesterone? Best wishes for a healthy pregnancy!

I had mine tested on 3,5,7,9, and 11 dpo and on day 7 it was 21, but had dropped to 10 two days later. My regular doctor said it was Fine, but my obgyn (who specializes in fertility help) said it was too low and was likely the reason i miscarried that cycle.  She liked to see it much higher than 20, and said it has to stay up to maintain a pregnancy; the quick drop was not good.  I’m now on 300mg of progesterone daily after O, and once i get pregnant again it’ll be checked at 16dpo to make sure the meds are working.

So, i realize that by conventional wisdom, <10 is good enough, but I’d double check that and make sure it gets followed.

(Btw, in case anyone’s a sciencey person, the numbers are ng/ml Haha).

CoffeeBeanKate:  I’m sorry for your loss. 20 for progestrone is wow! I thought mine was off but only by a little since the normal that I’ve been seeing is >10. I’m curious to know if yours was medicated cycle since they have a different guideline for those. If not, is there anything you can recall doing that might’ve helped increase progesterone? I’m trying to see if there’s anything I can do to up my progesterone. The drop for you might’ve also been due to a non-viable embryo. But, covering your bases here is good. Hope we both see sticky babies soon!

Gypsygal6:  No, that was the cycle for testing to decide if I needed medication. I’d had other problems that suggested progesterone being low or dropping too early, plus some other non-progesterone stuff, and had gone to see if they were problems worth fixing since we were ttc. 20 isn’t bad at all on it’s own, for sure, the problem is that it doesn’t rise the way it should and it drops off too soon.

I don’t really know how to increase it without an Rx. Fwiw, i get the suppositories (gross lol) at a compounding pharmacy and it’s only like $10 for three cycles’ worth.

Yes, sticky babies will be great!!!

(On my phone; sorry for typos.)

wyoteacher:  Hey thank you for responding. Hope you have a very healthy rest of the pregnancy as well.

I just got a BFP on a FRER and an extremely faint positive on a Wandfo cheapie at 11 DPO. Now I’m terrified that my 8.1 progesterone measured just this cycle is not going to cut it. And of course it has to happen on a Saturday so I cannot get my levels checked. Did you get your progesterone checked after your BFP? Was it >15? I’m hoping mine has gone up from where it was measured!

Thank for the the reassuring response! I’ve benne stressing about this. I’m going to get it checked tomorrow when my doctor’s office opens. Do you happen to recall what your level was when you checked after your BFP? I’m hoping for some good news tomorrow!

wyoteacher:  Gypsygal6:  You ladies give me hope! My doc was pretty discouraging with my progesterone at 8.3. My RE said that’s ok and indicates I ovulated. So now knowing you both got BFPs makes me so hopeful!
