Not sure where in North Jersey the church is - but I'm getting married at the Inn at Millrace Pond in Hope, NJ - definitely fits the outdoorsy country wedding although there is no option to bring in your own caterer.
We also checked out Perona Farms in Andover, NJ and Sussex County Fairgrounds Consevatory in Augusta, NJ. The Conservatory is the only one of these three that will allow you to bring in your own caterer.

@cokirste:we looked into Perona Farms, they are sadly too far. :( we're in west mildford, NJ
@Miss2Mrs: those are both gorgeous, except a bit far as well. :( we're in the country. boondocks of jersey!
@Miss2Mrs: it's about an hour drive, which is too far for our guests since the church is in west milford. I wouldnt want to drive to the church, and then drive to the reception, then drive back to NJ. most of my family is coming from upstate ny and flying in. but thank you though!
I'm in Vernon so I feel your pain. Have you checked Skylands Botanical Gardens in Ringwood, NJ? That's very close to the NY border too. Brotherhood Winery in Washingtonville, NY is close to Warwick too. Mount Fuji (the restaurant) is right over the border in NY too. They do outdoor weddings with an indoor space if the weather isn't great.
I know this post is somewhat old but what the hell! I just had a question for @cokirste as I'm looking into the conservatory for my wedding and am having trouble getting ANY details (I sent them an email and am waiting for a response).. any info you could share?

Hi Bees, My FI and I have pretty much had our heart set on a backyard wedding. Either early fall or spring (2012, or 2013 respectively) .... We've looked into other venues just to be sure that outdoor backyard is what we want. We checked out Warwick Valley Winery in Warwick, NY (we're right on the NY, NJ border, way north- West Jersey).. any other ideas?
Our church is in north Jersey, so it can't be super far. We're outdoorsy people, and want a nice classy country wedding. Looking for an indoor place, that possibly can be catered. Let me know!! thanks :)
