I am struggling to find a good DJ in the North NJ area. I'd ideally like to have a DJ for the reception (can't afford a band!) and a pianist or jazz trip during the cocktail hour. Do you know of any good DJs that offer this combination, and do it well? No annoying MCs either...
Also, any recommendations for hair stylists that can travel to NJ that are also good and affordable? Or salons in Bergen County, NJ that are easy to get to?
my stylist is in New Milford. She did my hair for prom, I assume she does wedding's. The place she owns is Medusa's. Awful name, I know, but she's great.
DJ-- Absolutely stay away from DJ Jeffrey Heart. You can check my review of him on the other websites.
Makeup-- LOVED Dawn at the Christian Dior Makeup counter at Neiman Marcus at Garden State Plaza. My mom has been buying makeup from her, and that is how we found her. She did an amazingly dramatic but natural job.
Flowers-- Something Nice Floral, not exactly northern NJ, but she travels; she was absolutely our best vendor during the wedding planning process
Check out The Pros at www.thepros.com. I just went to one of their bridal showcases where you can meet with the DJs and book him on the spot. I ended up winning two upgrades for my package. They are nationwide but my reception is in Jersey City.
i just booked a DJ/cocktail hour pianist combo through Craig Scott Entertainment... they have a whole bunch of musicians and DJs to choose from, and from the videos we saw, they seem to have a range of styles, ranging from very in-the-background (our preference) to verging on annoying MC-ish.
Hi, I was very particular about my DJ because I felt like a lot of companies had very young inexperienced kids. I booked Touch Of Class DJ's out of Kearney. The owner and his wife run the business and are very experienced. They show you a video of the actual DJ that will be doing your wedding - mine is Richie because the owner already had an event that day. They are very helpful and very reasonable. They also offer the pianist that you mention for cocktail hour I think. I was told by several people to stay away from The Pros as that one post mentioned.
As for hair in your area, I have no idea - I haven't gotten that far with mine yet. Sorry :(
I used Premier Entertainment for my DJ, and and really liked them. not sure what they have iun regards to live music though. this is their website http://www.premierdj.com/
i'm using elite entertainment as well. i interviewed 4 companies in total. i was looking to have dj at the reception and string trio/quartet for the ceremony and cocktail hour. but, to save $$, we're having dj throughout. elite gave us the best deal and i got the best vibe from them.
