this is great! not engaged yet, but likely in the next several months, and this list will help enormously when we start looking . . . thansk for sharing!
@spitcurl: omg. ::on my knees bowing to you:: I am in the just-engaged-now-what phase and trying to gather info on possible venues is quite a daunting task! Thank you so much for posting this.
Your welcome bees!
As earlier-in-the-process bees, I can give you another helpful hint which is: get a SEPARATE email addy for you & your fiance's wedding-related stuff (signing onto wedding-related websites, sending emails to vendors, etc.). That way the wedding spam stays out of your regular email accounts.
I did this with gmail, which is great, because we can use googledocs for all wedding-related data, and edit/share/lock them from viewers as we need to (sharing files with wedding party & family, or private between us, etc.). This is awesome for working between home/office/multiple compters and users. and it makes most of our "wedding binder" digital -- you can even create PDFs from images you find online for inspiraiton, to store & share. There are also a ton pf pre-existing and editable templates on googledocs for wedding-related data here: http://www.google.com/google-d-s/wedding/
wow, i really wish you had posted this when i was still looking for a venue! great research!
LOL -- I wish someone ELSE had posted this back when I was venue hunting! It would have saved me lots of headaches. :)
That said, I'm happy to trade for recommendations on dress designers or photographers, local to New England, if anyone else has a list of resources for these! These are two key components that I am still on the hunt for.
Update:
Weddingbee finally approved & uploaded the full list with links! The orginal post with all of these links on weddingbee can be found here:

I'll leave this post up though, in case some people prefer the portability of googledocs.
@spitcurl: For photographers, you might want to check with MissBoston. it sounds like she's got quite the Excel sheet going on for Boston area photographers.
I only researched 3 photographers myself: Lisa Rigby, Jen Ing, and Agnieszka Wormus of A Brilliant Photo. I highly recommend Agnieszka! she's super sweet and I think her packages are very reasonable.

Sorry, there are no users yet.
I put this list together from the EXTENSIVE and exhausting venue search last summer/fall. I want others to benefit from all the legwork, so that no engaged people ever have to go through what I've gone through! LOL. At least not those in upstate New York and New England. ;)
This list is very biased towards our particular wedding needs, i.e.: Pet-friendly, budget-conscious, outdoor ceremonies, local-destination or weekend weddings, lodging on-site, DIY, roughly in that order. There could be amazing venues towards the bottom of the list which I dismissed if they didn't fit our needs (ex: no dogs, not enough lodging, etc), but are worth checking out if they fit YOUR needs. Many of these sites came from my recently married friends, so I cannot take credit for all this research. Enjoy!

(I tried to just list all of the venues and links here, but weddingbee wouldn't let me. But you can find them all in the googledoc above.)
