My reception was at maggianos in Schaumburg and it was amazing.  They have a large ballroom upstairs.  We got married in a church but they do ceremonies there too and they look beautiful from the pictures.   The staff is just absolutely incredible and you get a lot for the money.  The food is the same food you get in the restaurant- not your typical gross wedding food.  Plus they give you all the leftovers and if you sign up for the  rewards program at the restaurant you get points from the wedding.  Definitely a lot of good eating for free after the wedding!  It was honestly the best decision I made wedding planning.  Ask for Chris- he is such a great wedding coordinator.  He came up with so many great ideas for us and was a calming force when wedding planning got stressful.

Also so look at Lincolnshire Marriott.  That was our second choice.  I’ve heard great things about it and it is also one of the more budget friendly non banquet hall options (though it is more than maggianos). Maggianos was better for our wallet and fit more with our vision (we wanted amazing food and something a bit more offbeat than a hotel).

SuzeeLauren:  Im really sorry to break it to you but for your standard full meal open bar i really don’t see how you are going to do it for 220 for under 20K. Keep in mind that youwill have to pay like 20% in taxes too. Also a lot of halls here have a 20K minimum for their larger ballrooms

She needs to cut her guest list or up her budget or maybe do a desert and champagne type reception.

We are getting married in Barrington so we escaped cook county taxes, and we are probably spending close to 15K just for catering and we are having like 130 people. Also I would say any where around Chicago metro area is going to be pricey. For you to realistically do 220 people for 20K I would try to go southern IL…like Peoria or something.

I would recommend looking at the Esplanade Lakes? They have the 20K minimum but the room is gorgeous and can for sure fit 200+ people ( i think max capacity is 300)

SuzeeLauren:  Or maybe try Independence Grove in Libertyville? I looked there, they lower their minimums for Friday weddings<br />Also Summer 2015 – she needs to book something asap…Maybe Hyatt Lodge in Oak brook ( again you have a 20K minimum)

Between myself and my sister we looked at nearly every venue in the burbs for both our weddings

I really think the issue is the size of her wedding and the budget. Can she increase her budget?

I agree, finding something in the Chicago suburbs for 220 people at that price is really hard.  We are just starting looking and our guest list is a lot less than 220, but I am surpised at how expensive places are around here.

My friend just had her wedding out in Yorkville at a newer golf club called Whitetail Ridge.  It was really nice and the food was great.  We are considering this venue for us.
