Wow, you just now realized that?  But it's not just the Nostradamus predictions.  there are other things that go in sync with the same time as that.  But who knows?  makes you want really live each day as if it were your last.

2012 is when the Mayan calendar ends, freakin' all kinds of people out. It's a little weird, if you read about it but most scientists dispute the reasons why the Mayan calendar ends then.

What I meant by that was that the whole Nostradamus "End of the World" prediction has been the big controversy for a year or two now.  With all the hype and movies they made about it, I was just suprised you are just now hearing of it.

But I will fully admit, that I will not discount the thought that it may not happen like most of my friends.  Even my SO thinks I'm rediculous for even entertaining the thought that it may be true.

that stuff freaks me out too, but i keep telling myself that if the world was really ending in 2012 the hype would've started a looootttt sooner.

personally, i'd like to believe that the only reason they started really 'talking' about it recently was because people would freak out because it's so close. i mean, wasn't y2k supposed to end the world too?

    @ CEAMOSTE

They didn't really think that Y2K was going to end the world.  They were just afraid of what would happen to all the information stored on the computers/satelites/etc.  If all of that crashed...basically that would be the end of the world.

The reason why The Nostradamus Theory hadn't come out sooner was because they had only discovered his last book recently.  that is where they were able to decode it

The world was supposed to end on Y2K, too. You know what I did then? Nothing. You know what I'm going to do on 2012? Nothing. It's just sensationalism at it's best. And hell, if the world does end (which I am 99.99% sure that it won't), there's no use worrying about it, it's not like you can stop it. Just keep living your life.

No, seriously, Rainbow is right... even if it's true, nothing we can do about it! Even though it would suck BIG time.

Has anyone seen that group on Facebook to add "i survived y2k, bird flu, mad cow, 9/11, and swine flu, 2012 here i come!" ?

I know this is just my personal opinion, but i do NOT believe that anyone has the power to know the date when the world will end. &Why the Mayans of all people???

@ Ms.Brew - I'm with you 100%. If and when there is solid scientific evidence, I will believe that. But a prediction, revelation, prophecy, etc is definitely not solid evidence!

Arancia, so strange you brought this up, I only heard about it last week and it had me completely freaked out too!  I had heard nothing of it before.  I haven't googled it because this kind of thing makes me overanalyze and worry, so I try not to, it's pretty weird though, hopefully its wrong!!!  I feel better knowing scientists are disputing it.

theres actually a documentary that was done with a mayan guy and from what i remember....he said that the mayan calendar doesn't predict the end of the world...theres a reason why it stops at 2012 and im feelind dumb right now because i cant remember it to save my life! lol!

I was a weirded out when Notradamus predicted 9/11 but I heard there were things that he said that were suppose to happen that didn't.  What is his accuracy at this point?

I have heard about the movie, 2012 but didn't know what it was all about. I thought it was just an idea that someone thought would be a good movie.  (Kinda like the movie, The day after tomorrow)  Now, I understand that the movie is based off of Notradamus.

If it happens it happens.  This post will probably get my courosity stiring so I'll probably start looking into it more.

Yeah, I saw a show and it's just that they write calendars based on every 2,000 years or something so that is why it 'ends' in 2012.  It is just like the calendar you buy in a store that 'ends' on December.  It doesn't mean the world ends on December 31, just that the time period has ended and you go onto another.  The Mayan's had predictions for dates past 2012 so they didn't think the world was ending.

I am not at all concerned. I'm not an alarmist. If the world ends in 2012, or in 2020, or in 2011, or if I get hit by a bus tomorrow... there isn't really anything I can do about it.

The thing about Nostradamus is that he's vague and cryptic enough that you can make pretty much *anything* out of it.

There are always predictions that the world is going to end - in fact several major religious movements (I think 7th day adventists and jehovah's witnesses) started with doomsday predictions that didn't come true! And in fact there's a bunch of things in the New Testament indicating that the early Christians expected Jesus to come back and the world to end within their lifetimes.

I think the Mayan symbols also indicated the end of 2012 was really a new spiritual awakening, moving from a time of materialism to a time of spirituality.  Frankly, I could see this happening.  All of the technology makes people more connected, but also further away.  Whatever your religious beliefs, or even if your agnostic or atheist, it would do the world better to be more compassionate and forgiving.  We'll see!  I don't think the world is going to end in a firey inferno though.

I don't think it's going to happen, but I also don't like to talk about it, hear about it, etc.  I refused to see the movie 2012, lol!  Besides didn't you see?  They moved the Doomsday Clock back a minute to 6 minutes before midnight.  That means our world is getting slightly better!  Here's a link for the Doomsday Clock info.

There was another thread similar to this....

    http://boards.weddingbee.com/topic/judgement-day-brides

The Maya didn't say the earth would end, it's the same as going from Dec. 31 - Jan 1. And, Nostradamus also thought that all those predictions would happen in his own lifetime. He didn't set a date, AND we only match up his predictions AFTER the fact. We make them fit what we want them to, that's why he was such an "amazing" psychic. There have been countless times in human history where they thought the end was near.

Also.. if you believe in the Bible, then you should be okay with not believing in false prophets and the fact that God only knows. And if you don't believe in that, then you just have to make up your own mind and try not to let everything you read or hear about scare you.

    @ Puggy

Yeah, as a Christian I always tell myself that the Bible specifically says the world will end when no one is ready for it, so clearly if everyone in the world (or the large majority) says it's going to happen Dec 21, 2012, it must not be.

Lol, vistagirl! My husband is a super huge 2012 conspiracy nut so I've been hearing about the end of the world for...  4 or 5 years?  :)  If you really want to hear some theories that will freak you out, look up "polar shift theory" or "universal alignment in 2012."

oohh i def second the "no payment untill 2012" too!

I figure i won't be able to stop it..and if something so precious like God's love wants us home..then in buckling my seatbelt and going to Him. As much as we may try we wont be able to stop it..so we might as well live our lives and enjoy it!
